Alert | | Does Maricopa have any choirs or singing groups that practice regularly and put on shows?

Alert | I don't think there is, but we could start one. I would LOVE to sing, and I have directed a church choir (volunteer) for more than 4 years. . . However, I'm not so much into setting things up (performances, places to practice, enrolling people, advertising); that's something completely different! Our church choir(s) miss out on doing the fun, contemporary things, so it would be AWESOME to do something a little more 'secular' in nature. . . or even 'mass'-like; since I LOVE that music, and can't use it at church! Baroque and Renassiance - soooooo much fun!!!!!!!
Would we want auditions or just 'off the street', how big, type of music, etc, etc, etc. . .
Also, I should mention if you would like to sing WITH my church choir - which I direct, we DO have once a month performances - we ARE practicing 4 easy Christmas songs, and we ARE a walk-in-join-the-group kind of choir. . .AND - membership in the church is not required. We are always looking for new voices, and would welcome anyone who would like to sing. It is a relaxed atmosphere.
Our next performance is the 3rd Sunday in Nov. After that will be Christmas. . .
PM if you want more info.

Alert | If we are talking about forming a community choir, then there are 2 approaches to take I suppose:
1) Open it up at first to all interested parties, and then as interest grows (as in numbers get unwieldy), can start to require auditions later.
2) Limit it by audition only from the start, hopefully forming a solid core group, then expanding out from there by audition or open to all. Often community choirs I have been involved in have 2 choirs, one audition only, highly experienced musicians, and the other more flexible auditions but includes the entire first group.
