Hi Everyone. I'm new to the forum but have been a "lurker" for more than a year ..... In the old forum somebody already asked where to go to do some pistol target shooting and it was lost during the transfer. Anyway have a suggestion on where a good place is ?

I thought maybe I was going to be adding to a place where horses got "shoe'd"

So the question is ......are you looking for a local place near Maricopa or a range anywhere in the valley?

Do you want a range or just a berm to shoot into?

I have been out in the Sonoran Desert West of Maricopa on the way to Ghila Bend and have heard people shooting. The area is pretty rocky and visited by lots of off roaders, so be carefull of the direction you are shooting and be sure to pick up your shells and trash.

It is a very nice part of the desert we don't need it shut down due to abuse.

Otherwise look to see if Shooters World is still around or go up to the Scottsdale Gun Club- which have indoor ranges.

definitly pick up after yourself and be sure of what is beyond your target. don't let it become like table mesa where its completely trashed and you need kevlar to go wheeling....

***official stop by***

I have read and understood the posting on this thread and have nothing to add.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

If you are looking for a range - the closest are:

City of Casa Grande Elzy Pearson Range - take Trekell Road south until it ends - turns to dirt, follow signs. Nice range with tables and cover. No monitors onsight - bring your own paper targets.

Phoenix Rod and Gun Club - take Baseline west to 7th Ave, turn south follow signs to 915 W. Olney. Check the website for hours. www.phoenixrodandgun.org

Farther away - Ben Avery Rifle Range - WAY north Phoenix 4044 West Black Canyon Boulevard

We go to the one in Casa Grande. It's outside and not so much fun in the summer.

Otherwise we go to Shooters World. http://www.azshootersworld.com/
