Alert | | So does that mean after 2007 we can finally have recycling service without having to contract with someone else?

Alert | The City of Maricopa does not yet contract directly with waste haulers and does not have any mandatory recycling ordinances. Therefore, every housing development in Maricopa can choose to contract with whomever they want.
Some developments have had trash and recycling included in their contracts from the beginning through Maricopa Disposal Services, for example Maricopa Meadows and Tortosa. The other developments (mostly serviced by Waste Management) did not have recycling included initially.
Now, Waste Management, thanks to their response to the majority of their customers wanting curbside recycling, is renewing contracts within some of their developments for that service.
Unfortunately, Waste Management's largest development, Rancho El Dorado, had a few very vocal residents that did not want to give up one day of trash service for recycling. So Rancho El Dorado residents who want curbside recycling must still subscribe separately for that service.

Alert | | I gladly pay the $5 month to recycle using WM. I wish they took glass too, but that will come in time, probably. | | Spring training is just around the corner!

I hear ya, Smigon. Five dollars is such a small amount to pay for the convenience of curbside recycling. I hardly see any blue cans on my street and it makes me sad to see that more people don't use this service.
