Ceprice,

First, contact an advocate if they even try to question your child's placement again. Do not tolerate anyone trying to silence your concerns for your child's wellbeing. You have recourse. Shout from the mountaintops your concerns. It is your right as a parent and your child deserves your concerns to be addressed and dealt with.

Second, Legacy is a public school. Charter schools are bound by the same laws as public schools. If your child lives in their boundary areas and you want him to attend there, IEP or not, they MUST accept him and serve his needs per his IEP. It is illegal for them to deny him an education because they receive state and federal funding.

Devil Dog, colds do not typically cause severe medical issues nor are they on the Dept of Health Services list of mandatory illnesses to report to parents.

Hendersona, The chicken pox was days ago. So Santa Cruz can't charge because it is unlicensed, I suffer payment while others don't because of district stupidity, my child suffers because of lack of funding this has now created making my child's afterschool overcrowded and lacking in staffing, and finally if they find a bus those kids will be joining them? That is just perfect don't we think?

Oh please, who will now come on and offer an excuse for Superintendent Flores' lack of leadership on this one? Anyone? Shall be interesting to see if the board bothers to address this issue since they only seem to sit there and nod yes to everything, except of course Tim White who asks questions and demands answers and then is unmercifully ridiculed and attacked for it.

I believe the school district is in worse shape than the city!

Yours in education,

Jessica Calliope

They do vaccine against chicken pox, but have updated the shot so that kids need 2. If your child has only received 1 chicken pox vaccine, contact your doctor ASAP about getting a booster.

Ceprice,
It is a shameful day when a parent of a special needs child feels fearful to express herself on a public forum because her child will pay the price....

Please know that there are Special Ed. Advocate outside of this school district to support you just make them aware of this situation and yes Legacy receives state money and therefore must accept and service your child.

Maricopa School Board are you reading, listening, pm this parent and get to the bottom of this.....she needs your help.

If noone will stand up publicly against the issues facing the district and the students all of this forum talk is a waste of time.

It is great that a few talk on here but the school board meetings are where the voices need to be heard. Those voices need to say that a recall can happen to anyone.

Actually, if you go to Pinal County you can get recall packets for all of the other board members. I would think that a one page list of the problems would cause any real concerned person to agree to sign a recall petition for any board members that continue to look the other way.

Remove the robots and elect people who are committed and dedicated to the cause of fair and equal and appropriate education for everyone.

BUT - forum talk and real action are inherently different animals and if the forum wizards are not willing to break some eggs to make the omlette then all of this is chatter is for nothing.

If you want some additional issues and concerns, you should talk with some of the coaches, a couple of doozies down there that will get you some signatures.

They cannot deny a child based on the need of an IEP.

Vote NO on Prop 102
