Me Too! So if you can't take it, quite freaking reading this! It is FRUSTERATING as our kids are the ones being punished for others that CAN"T FOLLOW THE RULES or who's parents don't give give a crap and allow their kids to wear things that are not appropriate to school. Probably YOUR KID!

As to the person who asked about red or blue - the new dress code does not address color, so you have no restrictions in that manner.

Thank you! I could have read the policy myself but I was lazy and thought someone could answer me. Thanks for the info.

What fine examples.

I can't believe I was just chastised by two alleged adults; one of whom actually typed a-d-d-i-t-u-d-e and meant it, while the other followed up "quite reading this" with how " frusterating" it is. You are both pathetic.

My child was never once in trouble for dress code violation. She will wear what the school district tells her she can wear, whether it's "stylish" and "fashionable" or not. She is being raised to respect the rules - not sit around whining and crying about how unfair life can be. The two of you could learn a lot from her. She can spell, too.

DN- Why do you have to be so mean? They are just venting which is what this forum is for. I agree, if you don't like it then quit reading and move along! Yippee for your perfect child who has never been in violation. Do you both want a medal? You're the pathetic one because you're getting upset with people who simply need to vent a little. Relax, geez!

First off, "mean" is a subjective term. I would say this is more a case of "you reap what you sew". Their disparaging comments about the decisions made by the district are based on this imaginary inconvenience they would have us all believe they are enduring, because of the rare, elusive, solid-colored shirt that is so hard to find.

When I made my first post in this thread, they could follow their own advice and choose to not read/ignore it, but they chose to fire back with comments about my “additude” and then the one idiot drug my daughter into the equation, which anyone can tell you is about the fastest way to all out war, in my world.

Next, one of them was completely disrespectful to a school board member, who only posted to share helpful information about the dress code. When you act like that, someone is bound to stand up and tell you to shut the hell up. Further, when you act like that, you deserve to be told to shut the hell up.

Finally, "just quit reading" is the worst advice ever and the exact mentality that has our district in so much trouble. It’s akin to saying, “If you see something you don’t like, leave it alone and look the other way.” I don’t operate that way.

For months I have watched and listened as parents complain vehemently about CLOTHING. It’s asinine! There are so many bigger issues in this district than whether or not Johnny can wear a NASCAR shirt to school.

I don’t mind that they disagree with the dress code. I don’t even mind that they have a strong dislike for the people who came up with the dress code rule. But when they come here and spout off “stupid this” and “ignorant that” or that this is all because our school is “so bad…like a prison”, just because they don’t like the rules; it’s time for someone to point out how childish it makes them appear. Just state you don’t like the rule without making up melodramatic faux-facts about hard-to-accomplish school shopping goals, prison-like comparisons and attacking the powers-that-be. It’s common sense.

In closing, I only mentioned my own daughter in response to nickswebcamfriend’s post that it was probably my kid that dresses inappropriately and inspired the new dress code. I never said she’s perfect and I don’t desire a medal for anything, but thank you for asking. My daughter would be on cloud 9 if she could show up tomorrow in a shirt that proudly boasts a huge HOLLISTER logo across the front, but she accepts that she cannot…nor can anyone else…which makes it okay with her. She respects the RULES.

I am sooooo sorry that I missed spelled a word! I realize that you are so perfect, but your hostility is unreal. I was just venting not putting anyone down. My kids do follow all directions of the school district and never have gotten dress coded! But there is one thing sure I do worry about parents like you that bring on such hostility in this world. You tell me what kind of example you are showing???? It is pure bullying. We were just talking about clothes not attacking people.

Yes, I know who he is! I have been around a while! The other option of dress code IS insane! (prison attire for sure!) I will be shopping all weekend! Hunting for boys shirts!;(</div>

Oh for the love of God! Go buy a package of plain colored Haines tee shirts and shut up!

You people are the biggest bunch of WHINERS I have ever seen. It is NOT that hard to find plain colored shirts, and if your child "refuses to wear" what is appropriate, then he/she is a spoiled little brat who needs to be taught to follow the rules! However, given the fits being thrown by alleged adults, it's no wonder the kids act the way they do.

As to the person who asked about red or blue - the new dress code does not address color, so you have no restrictions in that manner.

That's right, try to just turn the whole thing around on us. If you go back and read this thread, you were actually the one that started attacking peoples children!

As quoted from the above post - "what is appropriate, then he/she is a spoiled little brat who needs to be taught to follow the rules! However, given the fits being thrown by alleged adults, it's no wonder the kids act the way they do."

This is a FORUM. We are allowed to post our opinions in regards to what we are passionate about. My child has never been dress coded either, but there are limits as to what restrictions should be made and why. Just because we do not agree with you, you then start attacking us and our children. Your attitude, yes I did say attitude, is why there are so many people in this forum that have dropped out or are afraid to speak up.

Call us what you want, I still feel the restrictions are not just and that there are other issue that need our attention with this school district. What are you doing about it other than getting on this forum to attack others that are only here to talk to other parents that are in the same predicament? Thank you for your words of wisdom and your grammar and spell checking. I'm sure that we are much improved due to your efforts to show us how wrong we are. Oh, by the way, I spell checked this to save you some time.....

Amen Desert Newbie!
I think people use this forum to complain and give out negative information. Believe it or not, MUSD is doing a really good job considering all of the people who come here hating it before they even try it. My kids have been here for 5 years now and both have excelled thanks to some really awesome teachers. My advice, if you hate it so much, go back to wherever you came from and take your negativity with you! If you stay, try to support our schools.

I think that the 2x2 thing is ridiculous no matter what anyone says and as if plain colored shirts doesn't look like gang attire!

Can some one show me where the code says no screen print or pictures. I have just read it over again and I see the no logo thing, I see the no pictures or screen printing that depict advertising, offfensive or illegal content. Am I missing the no pictures at all?

I think some of you are reading WAY too much into the dress code. It doesn't say anywhere that kids can't wear silkscreen t-shirts. It says "Logos, other than school logos, may not be any larger than 2”x2”. They should not have to explain to you what a logo's. A logo is like a large Pepsi logo, Nike, Reebok, Spongebob, McDonalds, ect... The picture of a rainbow is ok, Rainbow Bright is not. A yellow triangle is ok, unless it has Doritos across it.

My daughter's teacher said her white shirt with tiny stars was against the dress code, I emailed her and said the next time she harassed my daughter about her clothes she would have to deal with me. These teachers need to worry about educating the kids and/or get them a dress code they can live with. There is no reason why they can't wear shorts or jeans and a t-shirt and call that a dress code. My son wears a red, blue or white shirt everyday, the middle and high school can adopt the same policy.

The one thing that is weird is they allow cowboy hats.

My goodness, you confused me more. LOL I told myself-my son-nothing on the front but stripes etc.!!!! No screenprint. I understand what you are saying...but all the kids I see do not. We are playing it safe-basic t's and polos etc. I do not care what he wears. I have taught him the same. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'> I did give him a free day yesterday...let him wear his screenprint t-shirt with a dr. pepper on it. He bought it when I thought only things legal to minors would be allowed on shirts. Now it is a sleeping shirt. Looking forward to a wonderful year. We have some great teachers and my son is excited.
