I was talking to another mommy friend of mine, whose kids go to a different elem school than mine (out here in maricopa). She told me that her kids attended an assembly where a police dog attack was demonstrated (guy in a bite suit and the whole 9 yards). Her child is already scared to death of dogs as it is, and this didn't help.
I was wondering why this assembly occured, and what the point of it was (my friend didn't know).
Also, I'm sure her child isn't the only one in that particular school afraid of dogs, so I"m a little confused as to why this was considered appropriate.

I'm not looking to fight about it, just get more info.

Usually it's part of a safety day or safety week presentation, but I totally agree with you. Seems a little violent and scary for grade-schoolers. Probably better suited to Junior High.

I think that you are right..

A little much for grade school.

JR High... maybe (just to let them get a taste)

High School ... madatory ( take a walk on the real life of things. You get out of line ... you meet Fido!)

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

YZracer-

Do you know what law enforcement agency performed this police dog demonstration?

Just curious...

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I don't know which agency did it. We didn't get into those kind of details, just the situation in general.
