Alert | If you are a single mom, then I am sure you have to hold down a job, correct? Okay, so if your little johnny is outside shooting his slingshot at the neighbors windows before you get home from work, the neighbors should tell him to stop, shouldn't they?
That is what "it takes a village" means. It is all of us, pitching in, to guide the youth of our community, whether they are our own children or not. It's not about who's to blame if the kids end up down the wrong path.

BACK ON TOPIC: Why did those boys jump that young man anyway? Were trying to get back the ipod he stole the night before. He had it on his person, were trying to get it back? The cops wouldn't do anything because they couldn’t prove it was theirs? Does this make it justified or not? Does anyone know the "real story"? A little rough justice at school? No one seems to know what really happened. </div>
I am still trying to get the story myself. I find it hard to believe that this was a random incident. What is the back story?

Shooting a slingshot at a neighbors window? If a kid doesn't have the common sense to know that this is wrong then there is no way he/she should be home alone while you are working. I would consider that incident the parents fault. Hire someone to care for your kid if you can't do it. Your neighbors didn't make a choice to have your child, you did. "it takes a village" is a sorry excuse.

Alert | | exactly my experience as well. a lot of talk, no action and it has been frustrating. I make sure I know what my own child is doing and how his firends are so I can help him steer clear of what I have seen go on here in copa, as they call it.
