Flores has mandated that Santa Cruz parents not be charged for afterschool tuition in an attempt to sidestep the licensing requirements. This "resolve" will cost the distict and tax payers $3500 a week plus operational supplies. Is everybody o.k. with that?

Meanwhile an instructor has reported being out with the chicken pox and the director has not sent home notification of possible exposure. I suppose that since it isn't licensed they don't have to tell parents about possible diseases.

HA, this kills me.

There are certain people, including those that run this site, who are demanding professionalism from an unpaid elected official yet totally let slide the woefully inept performance of the ONE PERSON who is getting PAID to be a professional. What gives Scott? Why is this OK with you? Why are you silent on this? Why aren't you demanding improvement. This is our kids we are talking about. I do not fathom your reasoning for your journalistic silence.

Hey Dog,
Journalistic silence on topics related to our children but journalistic fever by the likes of Ms Hollis and her cohort Ms.Gellespie when it comes to Flores inspired lynching of questioning Board members.

I can't believe this! Are you kidding me? So I have been faithfully making my weekly payments to Santa Rosa, accosted by the White lynchmob/Flores promotees, and now another school is free? Well, I want a REFUND or to transfer where this school is. Where is this school anyway?

Not report infectious illness? Why the oversight? But how can we be surprised when kids go missing, busses are hours late, buildings are not licensed, and staff not properly investigated when hired? It's a mystery to me that gains in appreciation as the district continues to fall woefully apart. Not to mention how ridiculously out of control the place is when I pick up my children. There are children running everywhere, staff looks perplexed and overwhelmed. PARENTS ARE NOT HAPPY. Wake up.

Well the only thing I can say is that elections are coming up for some school board members so questions will be asked to candidates. If not by this site than by others. We already have hundreds of kids being bussed out of this district. If the board does not think that this group is of concerned parents is politically active then they are going to be surprised.

It will be a simple vote as it certainly can't get WORSE with new Board members.

Dear Copa,

You can call the district for a refund but don't hold your breath,if teachers can't get paid why would you get a refund? I would wait until the incubation period for the pox has subsided before requesting a boundary exception to transfer your children to the "free" asp program school, it is the Tortosa school.

Pepperdog,

See you on voting day! This year is going from dismal to despair. I can say that despite all the dysfunction of the Superintendent's poor leadership, the principals and teachers really care about our children (generalization).

Yours in education,

Correct me if I am wrong, because perhaps something has changed of which I am unaware, but I believe the key phrase in your post is our kids. I do not believe the Bartle family has moved to Maricopa.

I don't know why in the Hollis case, but as for Gillespie; she's bucking (or at least was) for the school Public Information Manager (or whatever they called it) job, which keeps her lips firmly planted on the Flores backside.

Yeah they get the shot in infancy now, but it doesn't 100% prevent. A good friend had her daughter vaccinated against it and she broke out witha mild case of the chicken pox weeks after the vaccination. Last month she called me saying her daughter had chicken pox again and it wasn't mild this time.

So if they are offering a free ASP at Santa Cruz does that mean they are no longer shutteling kids to another school for the ASP? What about the kids from Pima Butte being bussed to Santa Rosa are they going to stop that as well? Personally, I fear every time my children step onto a bus in this district.

Ceprice,
Personally I can't understand how parents were not filling the board room at last weeks meeting expressing that exact fear when their children were bussed from one school to another without parent permission or notification. But there was not one parent speaking up at the meeting!!!!!
My grandchildren are at Santa Rosa and all that my daughter was told was that she would still pay her bill and there would be another school of kids bussed to SR; that is Pima Butte. This is the situation until they can figure out their licensing drama which has been going on for some time so when the director says 90 days that might be wishful thinking.

Apparently it's ok for Flores and the board to act unprofessional when it comes to a recall of another board member.

Joyintheroses,
I can tell you why parents are not speaking out in public - it's called fear of retaliation. I have a kid in the MUSD SPED program and if I rock the boat in public then I have every belief he will be shipped right back to one of the self-contained classrooms. I have to walk a fine line. The day my name was published in connection with a story about bussing issues - I got a call stating that my childs placement just didn't seem to be "working out", and they wanted to move him to a more restrictive environment. When I stopped posting and talking about what I'd experienced, his placement issues were no longer brought up.

Today I get on here again and make the smallest statements about my concerns with the district, and boom again his placement is being addressed.

I have to work, and cannot drive my children to another school district or homeschool them. I am basically dependent on MUSD for my childs schooling. Legacy doesn't want my son inparticular because of his IEP. I don't have a solution that doesn't jepordize his education.

I'm sure that I'm not the only parent in this position. It's not apathy or lazyness that keeps us way, it is trying to do the best we can by our children.

That is just one of the tactics the district uses to intimidate not only the parents of this community but the teachers and administrators as well...

Teachers dont get paid, Administrators dont get contracts, students and parents get intimidated...

Those that assist get promotions and raises.

They did send out a notice today about the chicken pox. when did you say this teacher contraced it? As for not busseing the students they want to bus the Santa Cruz students to anouther school but they have run out of bus drivers and are curently looking for one. When they get one these students will be bussed also.
