I am a student at MWMS, and I've heard that all the teachers are trying to make "contacts" with parents at the beginning of the schoolyear.

Most of the student's teachers will call at some point or another this quarter. And for most of them it will just be to make their contacts with the parents.

Good afternoon everyone. I hesitate to post on the community forum but I’m Mrs. Binder and I love working in Maricopa. Middle school children are very special and they are now at the state of becoming young adults. I hope that this year my students develop into professional young adults in the classroom and as future community leaders. We have gotten this year off to a great start and the students have such a great respect for their teachers and staff. Mrs. Sharp has made this possible by providing great training and mentoring to the teachers. She is a leader with the district and is encouraging all teachers to call five students a day. We as teachers have many positive things to say about your children and thins year I know I will try and contact all of my parents. Most of my parents I have talked during the last 3 weeks but for those of you who have not talked to me yet I am so sorry but your phone number might need to be updated. Don’t hesitate to e-mail me at tbinder@musd20.org if you have any questions.

If you are in my class give me a note. If you are not come find me and I will look for something positive that you are doing. I know you are doing something great but we teachers work hard to call everyone soon someone will call. Have a great day and know that they will soon find you doing something special.<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/biggrin.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Big Grin' align='absmiddle'>

Lees2,

Don't sit on the sidelines waiting. Send an email to the teachers to start off the year as well. While I applaud the efforts of the teachers already jumping on communication, this is the responsibility of us as parents as well. Let's step up to the plate with the teachers on this one and open communications. I emailed my 2 children's teachers at the elementary school and got an instant email back that evening from one and the next day from the other. I have since received a class newsletter on my email. This is just great. Maybe it just took my email to open the door. Good luck with your experience Lees2! Don't give up yet.

Mrs. Sharp is great with communication and she still has a e-mail newsline this year. I am following her lead and will be sending out my own e-mail news letter.
If you would like to join my weekly newsline please e-mail me at tbinder@musd20.org with subject line JOIN and in the body of the e-mail type what class your child is in.
