MWMS was alerted that the busses may need to make double runs. With additional bus riders, the busses will only allow 84 students to board. The remainder will go to the gym and wait for their return for a 2nd run. This will cause some of the in town routes to run slightly late 15-25 minutes. This issue is temporary as added routes and drivers are being added.

The school is also having phone issues today so I wouldn't expect calls to be answered in a timely fashion, they are working on the issues and hope to have them fixed asap.

UPDATE:

Latest update, Bus 51 will be dropping off high school to Tortosa before coming to get MWMS kids. That will make our run very late.

Wow.. Looks like they need to get more drivers and buses

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

How late? That's really rhetorical because I'm wondering if the 25~30 minutes saved by each extra bus and driver is really worth the expense. Buses run $100,000+ and each driver is $25~30,000/yr when you factor in benefits. I no longer work for the district but I'm still familiar enough with the operation to say that transportation, just like the rest of MUSD, is doing their best.

its not 30 min. its up to 2 hours late, everyday. i have worked for schools and public transportation, without enough drivers and better schedules this will get worse when sports teams start to travel, where are you going to get the bus? from middle school? then they will be 3 hours late.

this is not a one day thing. it has been everyday so far. i have called and recieved what seems to be a very honest explanation, not enough drivers, buses and the schools get out too close together. i am very upset and am staying in contact and trying to get the superintendent active in trying to resolve this before kids start staying home. at this rate middle school kids will be walking home in the dark this winter. i do not know the state law here, in michigan kids have to be home with in one hour after school lets out. i also know that a school system has 4 weeks to make this happen

Dear drs,
"a school system has 4 weeks to make this happen" or what happens? the problem is this district is not accountable to anyone...it has been reported to Az Dept. of Ed, the Attorney General's office, the Governor's office, DES, DHS and DPS and no response..very disheartening..who is looking out for our kids?

Agreed. The local news organizations here are not looking out for our kids either. Imagine if this were the City COuncil and City Staff instead of the SChool District Super and School Board. It would be front page, there would be letters, demands for inquiries, editorials, and so on. BUt this is only our schools so no big deal.

I can only imagine what Phoenix news orgs would be saying if this occured in Phoenix, Tempe, Glendale. I know the schools have higher standards there and the people expect more professionalism. Here it's growth pains again and that's ok....

Wrong! it is NOT ok to be continuing to have more kids on a bus than should be on legally. These people can do the math. They know how many kids are being put on these routes, and if they don't then that is even worse. That is not growth pains but a failure to do the job. It should not be covered up or let slide. Journalists know that exposure is the ONLY way to bring honesty in government.

It is not ok to not have proper licensing. We hired professionals to run these progams and to make sure they are done right. We are paying them professional salaries. It's been over a year now and still the same issues.

This is not ok, it is not only tax dollars, it's our kids....

Anyone who advocates a "one" world government, a "one" social order, or a "one" enviroment is a communist trying to take away your freedoms. Nature celebrates diversity!
