Alert | | This is great info wolfpack. Looks like there is a whole lot of schools coming! I wonder what the timing on a lot of those schools are. I know the Villages school is coming soon (Fall 2008 afaik), and Glennwilde school is also being planned, but there are soooo many others on that map that I have never heard of. | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. Alert | | i was originally asking when the middle school was going to be built in RED. I guess the Tortosa MS will be built first, then hopefully red. My son has a few years to go before I have to worry, but I hope it will be completed by then | | joined May 2005 406 posts

Alert | | I hope the renovated High School can handle all of the Elementary Schools once they reach High School<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/ermm.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Errmmm...' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | | I hope all the new middle schools plans have a separate gym and not a combined cafeteria/ multi-purpose room like MWMS. Students and P.E./Health teachers need to have an indoor facility available each period. After all, this is Arizona. There is heat, health advisories, monsoons, etc..

Yeah, that was my thought. How do we filter kids from 17 elementaries, into 4 middle schools, and from there into only 1 high school?
I get that elementaries house more grades/students, so we need more of them, but K-5 represents 6 classes and grades 6-8 represents 3 classes for middle school, so basically half as many kids...but 4 middle schools isn't half of 17 elementaries.

Alert | | I believe that public school enrollment is highest in the primary grades. Once you get to high school you have less students due to drop outs, private schools, or other alternatives. At least that is my thought. Maybe I'm wrong. | | "Knowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. This is like mistaking a cup of milk for a cow." -- Unknown

Alert | I understand what you're saying but that would mean a couple of things...
The dropout rate would be a huge number or...
Parents don't look at Maricopa's High school as a good place for an education...
Either way it doesn't say much for MUSD | | It’s not a glass half full (optimism) or a glass half empty (pessimism)—it’s half of a glass of water (reality). Expend your energy and mental capacity on something worthwhile!

Alert | | Or that means the High School will be way over crowded. But that is nothing new!

Alert | I suspect the reason is that the overwhelming number of children that have migrated here in the past couple of years aren't in high school yet.
