I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any Girl Scout troops in Maricopa. I'm interested in getting my daughter involved, but I haven't heard anything about a troop around here.

There should have been someone at Meet the Teacher night with information. What school does she go to?

Look at the events calendar on the home page. There is an information night for girls and parents on 8/29/07 at Pima Butte Elementary school.

In the activator there was a number, I don't have it right in front of me, but it was on the very last page (the back cover on the inside). Or you can email the lady in charge, Julie at daiseythebasset@yahoo.com.

There are several girl scout troops here. There is a sign up scheduled for August 29th...I am sure there will be information at your school regarding sign ups. What grade is the girl scout going to be in and where do you live? We have one that incorporates students from Santa Cruz and Legacy. My other daughter started out as a Daisy with students from the different elementary Kindergarten classes over at Pima Butte. You can get in touch with the Girl Scout council on line and they can give you the number of the person in charge out here for more info.

Re: Meet the teacher night at Santa Cruz.. the three leaders were all busy that night and couldn't get the table organized. Give me your email and I can email you separately with details.

Thank you

I am interested in becoming a leader or co leader. I was a leader for my daughter daisy troup when she was in Kindergarten and also a leader for 1/2 year for brownies when she was in 1st grade then we moved to gilbert. Now that we are in Maricopa I would love to get her and myself back involved in girl scouts. We both loved it.

Do you have to be a certain age to join?

I'm not sure what the starting point is, I believe it's kindergarden on up through adults. If you email Julie daiseythebasset@yahoo.com she can answer that question.

I could be wrong, but I believe this is the age thing:

Kindergarten they belong to the Daisy's

1st thru the end of 3rd they belong to the Brownies

At that point their is the Junior Girl Scouts, but I don't know until when.....and that is about all I know about that.

On the 29th, I think all the schools are having a Curriculum Night. You will be able to sign up for Girl Scouts at that time. The troops are separated by age (Kindergarten= daisy's etc...) and also try to keep the kids that go to the same schools (and are the same age) together, but this doesn't always work out for whatever reasons. I am one of three leaders for a Brownie Troop (second and third graders) at Santa Cruz. I believe there are two junior troops, which would be 4th grade an up in Maricopa too. If you can, come out to one of the schools on the 29th.

Hi all! As you have expressed interest in Girl Scouting for your daughter, I wanted to be sure to invite you to a Girl Scout Recruitment Rally at Pima Butte Elementary School on August 29th at 6:30 pm. We are gathering to try to form some new Girl Scout Troops in Maricopa. Without adult volunteers, Girl Scouting would not be possible. We look forward to adding your family to our Girl Scout family! Thanks!
