Alert | | As a teacher and a parent I have mixed feelings. I love my job, so I am excited to get back in the classroom again. I look forward to school starting every year. As a mommy, I am sad that I have to drop my daughter off at daycare again.

Alert | | I love the fact that we do not have to be on such a schedule. And that I do not have to nag them about homework etc. But I know that they miss friends and do get bored at times. It is sad because they are growing up so fast!

Alert | | When I worked in Glendale we had a year round schedule. We had three weeks off in October, three weeks off in December/January and three weeks off in March. The summer break was shorter, but I loved it. Three weeks off in October is the PERFECT time to vacation!

Alert | Geoff ,
You really dont have to be negative about everything. It tends to diminish the positive things you may contribute from time to time.
There are many great leaders amongst us who have very little experience. Im not sure what you do but I would venture to say that even in your profession experience is not always the deciding factor as to who performs better. As your already aware we do live in a rather young community, so try to relax and let the community grow. You will save yourself alot of stress. asugabw -information age

Alert | Summer can never be too long...*sigh*
As to school supplies, they usually give you a list at meet the teacher. You could also try the school website it might give a basic list. Or if the teacher is returning they may actually have a website. *gasp*

Alert | I understand that Staples is having a Mega sale of school items for 1 penny (some are as much as 9 cents!) through tomorrow July 11. There are limits, but educators get to buy more. If you go to Slickdeals.net it is listed there somewhere.

Alert | Oooooh, thanks J9design! I know where I'm heading tomorrow. I love school supplies.
I'm sad the school year is starting, though. The schedule out here is sooooo weird. August is the dead of the hottest time of summer, and yet the pools start closing during the week because of school. | | I loathe people who keep dogs.
