From what I've read recently, I get the impression the GRIC would rather we build a divided highway that would connect Smith-Enke to the I-10.

After looking at a map of the area, I like the idea! It would reduce construction time and costs because
1)It is a shorter distance and 2)it would remain closed to traffic until finished, expediting the construction.

Most importantly, it would eliminate the massive construction related traffic jams that a 347 expansion project will surely cause during the months or years it would take to complete a project of this magnitude.

I had not heard the idea of connecting smith-enke to the 10 but that sounds like a great idea that I would support in a heart beat.

I drive the 347 every single day, I drive over 120 miles to work and home every single day. I knew when we bought our home here that I worked up by metro center mall and he works downtown, so I knew about 347 and still wanted to move here. Again, I personally have no regrets. I am truly happy here. I knew what i was getting into when I moved here, knew about the distance to and from work, knew that 347 was the only way in and out of the city to the valley. I guess it was one of those things where i knew we had to do our homework first and figure out if this was the right move for us.

I just don't understand how anyone could make a huge investment into a home and then not due their homework first. but even with the 347, even with the traffic, even with the negativity from some...Im happy Maricopa is our home.

Charann, I as well did the same mine was 64 miles round trip, and was well aware of it when I moved here. Sure was traffic frustrating sometimes, yes, but now worse than a rush hour in LA! I love it here and nothing wil change our minds about that!

Ain't that the truth....during rush hour it would take me 45-60 minutes to go 14 miles. And that was against the major traffic. Without traffic that same commute would only take 10 minutes. Oh and let's not even go there on how long it would take if there was an accident.

347 is nothing compared to SO CA

Glad to see you post this!! I was beginning to wonder who the strange ones were!!!

The traffic on the 347 wasn't so bad before all the construction started... but I do have to admit that I am a home schooler who never leaves Maricopa... oh, but my husband does... and he loves it to.

I may be wrong, maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject could post something, but I thought that one of the biggest problems with negotiating with Gila River had to do with the fact that many individual people own the reservation land. Like a different family owns each acre or something like that. So in order to sell or develop the land they need a vote from every partial owner which is what is causing delays and problems. Like I said, I don't know if that is true, but I thought I heard something like that shortly after we moved here about 3 years ago.

Actually... I didn't delete my post. The forum moderators chose to limit my freedom of speech so as not to scare off new people coming to this fair, albeit stinky town of ours. Anyone go outside last night for a whif?

For the record, I fully acknowledge that posting in a privately owned forum isn't covered by freedom of speech although it should be.

Denna you should maybe start packing, soon, I heard they are bringing 15/20 thousand more feeder steers into Pinal Feeding and Benedicts yard. Good news they are looking for a quality assurance officer, preferably someone who can detect impurities right away like you do. Stay by the phone and your computer for your once in a life time job. Oh buy the way the job requires you to hose down the bull hauler trailers before testing. Please let us know how it goes.

I think it's really funny how all the people complain about the poor planning and all. It seems to me these people used poor planning when they chose to move to Maricopa. You are part of the problem. If you had planned better we would have less a problem. QUIT WHINING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
