Wondering why it took Deena 3 years of living here to begin to post? Obviously she has a lot to say. The city council meeting gives the public a chance to bring up their concerns. I agree with some of your ideas, as I am sure many do, but stating them here isn't getting anything done. Just a thought.

Alert | now let me stick in a disclaimer that i'm a hillbilly from the midwest..
i'd never SEEN a starbucks til i moved to maricopa this summer. there were NO coffee shops of any kind w/n an hour or more of my "hometown". the concept of a coffee shop is silly to me. coffee is made in a black n decker in your kitchen. or you buy a nice bitter black cup of coffee at the local ma'n'pa joint to enjoy while waiting on your fried taters and grits. you can have sugar if you like (sugar, not splenda and certainly not the cane sugar packets i've seen here. crazy!!) and you are welcome to have some dry creamer.
the fact that people are excited by the prospect of being able to order a cup of fancy-pantsy very overpriced coffee from the comfort of their auto is disturbing.
i don't think i'll ever settle into this citified life.

Alert | | So funny how different people's perspectives are... I'm from downtown Seattle where there is a Starbucks on every street corner and at least one competitor on the opposite corner. Not to mention all the independent drive thru huts... I've never had less opportunity to get good convenient coffee since moving to Maricopa!

Alert | Ummm, I am not the one who complains so much, that's why I sign my messages with Deena with two ee's. Just keep thinking that the little stinker is not the complainer (grin).
My husband and I are moving to Maricopa next week from Globe, a move that we are so excited about. Believe, after living in Globe most of our lives, we think that Maricopa is perfect. We've spent time there, getting to know the area and looking for a house; we're entirely impressed with the city and the citizens and that's why we've chosen to make it our new home.

Alert | Hi itsjustmandy, we're moving into Glenwilde, on Falcon. It's a lovely neighborhood and seems nice and quiet. I'm disabled and don't leave the house very often, but living in a neighborhood that I can actually take a short walk in, that isn't on a hill, is something that I'm really looking forward to.

I am looking forward to everyone in Maricopa being frequent visitors of the establishment and spending your money with Starbucks for years to come! Starbucks makes the best coffee. Well, now we know. </div>
She's an "Expert" you know! LOL
Especially when all Starbucks is doing is filling their pockets for their big corporate office. Starbucks was good years ago before it was a store when they sold to the little coffee shops in Seattle, my Mother in law owned one of these, now it is just massive marketing and high prices for burnt coffee. Just my opinion. I'll Take Tully's for now and of course switch to Maui when it opens (I'd better). Everyone has their own opinion, thats why there is freedom.

If all the other places taste like circle k's that makes starbuck the worst coffee in the world circle k has awesome coffee. much much better than staryucks (starbucks for all you that didn't get it). One sip of staryucks and that nasty taste stays in your mouth for days.

Alert | | It doesn't really matter if people like Starbucks coffee or not. People learn to like it because Starbucks caters to Americans need for easy, fast, and NOW. They know people are too lazy to get out of their cars for a great cup of coffee, and will gladly take a mediocre cup if they don't have to leave their cars. They also target small shops and tend to open right across the street from places that don't have drive thrus and take all their business. You may LOVE coffee, and hate Starbucks, but if one opens in Maricopa, they will be extremely successful because they know how we all are. You can say you won't frequent one because it sounds nobel, but when you are in a hurry and need your jolt of java, are you going to go INTO the mom and pop and get a great cup of coffee, or are you going to drive thru and get what you get? Starbucks is banking on the latter, and they have proven time and time again that they always win. If people were so excited and driven by quality, fast food wouldn't exist, and we would all still be making our own mashed potatoes instead of relying on the Colonel for dinner. Does KFC make good potatoes? No, but no one cares. You can get them via drive thru. People are lazy. Starbucks and fast food joints know this better than anyone else in the world. | | Yes, that's really my name
