For those who like any of the pizza places around here all I can say is don't go to NY and have real pizza. It will totally ruin it for you when you come back home! This will seem barely edible to you any more.

Our friends from NJ have been going to T & M Pizza in Casa Grande for the past year.  Says it's the closest to NY Pizza around.  Anyone else been there?

T & M was started by the brother of the owners from Nick and Nino's.  They are originally from Palermo, They have since sold but the recipe's are supposed to be the same,

Let's keep to the subject, please.

How about never (and I mean never!) eat at a place that uses the water as a scapegoat they are usually the worst places to eat! "The water is different here then it is in NY". Duh! But tomatoes, olive oil, parsley, etc. they all taste the same here and there. It's your combonation of the ingredients that are the problem.

It's not bad.  Sauce is a little salty.  Where in NY did you live?

I liked Fat Daddys. It wasn't the best pizza on the planet but, it was good and they had a great salad bar too. I ate there often, esp for their lunch special.
As for food being better in Ny or other places, I guess that is just a matter of opinion.
I was born in NY but grew up and spent my whole life here. I have always heard people saying stuff like that.
Well, I made two road trips across the country, 1 in '05 and one last fall. I spent considerable time both upstate and on Long island. I could honestly not tell the difference in the food.

I even when to Red Lobster In Mesa, then ate at Red Lobster near Central Islip while visiting family. I could not tell the difference in either place regardless of what 'water' they used.
I also went to some of the local seafood joints on LI. The seafood was good but, again, I could not tell the difference with their food and  the food from here in AZ.
I will not say it is the same but, I can say from my own repeated experience that I cannot tell the difference.

When we first moved to Maricopa in January of this year, we frequented FDP quite a bit.  Ironically, we didn't have their pizza but once, and it was alright I guess, but they had many other good things.  They were kind folks, we were sad to see them go.  I understand that when they started the biz, they were one of only 2 or 3 other pizza places in Maricopa.  Obviously, as time went on, more mainstream type places popped up and I guess they couldn't compete.

Spoken like a true Chicago guy.  I guess if you grow up eating that Chicago garbage you start to believe it's actual pizza.
