Our favorite (hell, ONLY) decent coffee place is for sale!

High rents are continuing to take their toll here in the 'Copa.

While it sounds as if there is positive cash flow, the lady who owns it has tired of the grind (so to speak...)...She was going to close but has 2 years left on her lease, so now looking for a buyer.

I'm even thinking about it...

Oh gosh really? That's very distressing to hear - I really enjoy their bagels and we often have friends over for brunch to part-take in them! Yum!

By the way - I love your avatar, are you a Welsh? If so - Happy Saint David's Day for March 1st! I wore my daffodil with pride!

May as well sell something, if you show up after 9AM there are rarely any bagels to be sold.

Well if "high rent" is the problem why would you consider buying them?

Thanks,

Higgs

That would be a foolish place to purchase ANY business. 90% of the people never even see that corner. Much less notice Kazoos. I've stopped there maybe twice in the 3 years I've been out here and it just didn't leave a desire to be a regular.

It's not the high rents that is killing this business.

Personally, I thought the place was lousy. The bagels were sub-par and there was a wait to get your bagel toasted...what's up with that?

Of course not, but "evil greedy developers/landloards" are much better scapegoats.

Thanks,

Higgs

Nothing wrong with that corner.....maybe they didn't advertise enough..........who knows...

They had good waffles in the morning......

And yes, rent is WAY too high in Maricopa. Why pay these prices when you can have a store in Chandler or Tempe for the same rent, and have a much larger tarket market?

Having the pleasure of knowing both of the owners, one through her previous job when she was applying to purchase, and the other that babysat my grandkids for awhie. You both are loved, and me and my family wish you all the best. You have it all. Good menu, good atmosphere, and friendly employees. Please do all you can to stay! By the way Drummer72, nothing in Maricopa makes you happy. You could be in the garden of eden and find a cesspool. In other words, your opinion STINKS!

The rent issue will take care of itself, landlords would rather have less rent than no rent. Chandler or Tempe being a better market may or may not be true depending on the business and exact location. Maricopa may be smaller, but that doesn’t mean it’s a worse market. For one thing there is not as much competition here for many businesses (unless you want to open a pizza place or dentists’ office), and being somewhat isolated you kinda have a captive audience, I mean someone is not going to drive to Chandler only to get a cup of coffee. Although this has worked against some local businesses IMO as some seem to have the attitude of “where else ya gonna go?”.

A lot of small businesses fail, that is the nature of the game, why people think Maricopa should be different I just don’t get.

Thanks,

Higgs

Oh Granny,

You must be mistaking me for Genna. There are several things I like about Maricopa. Once again you are another member of this lovely forum that deosn't understand my humor.

Can I make it up to you and offer you a ride to Walgreens?

My opinion may stink, but at least my butt doesn't.

I have to disagree with you on this one. I believe in supporting local businesses, but I also believe in getting quality goods and services for my money. If you are a local business and your goods or services are not good and you end up having to close your doors, this is not my fault nor the communities fault. Especially now with the economy being tough, I cannot spend my money as freely, so I demand quality or I don't spend my money there. Just my opinion.

I'm sorry to see Kazoo's for sale but the location is less than ideal. I forgot it existed. It just doesnt get the eye traffic it needs to be successful.

Oh drummer, did you mean DENNA and not Genna????  "D" is 2 keys left of the "G"  You have reached an all-time LOW with that post.  You should be resticted from posting. I will not lower myself to your level with a come-back remark.
