I first moved here a yr. ago and nothing was going our way, as if a dark cloud followed us everywhere we went, which built a bad attitude both inside and out for me. I feel alot had to do with my other half not getting a job for 6 months after we arrived here and also the housing market crashing! Then not having enough shopping and eateries really took it's toll on me. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention the commute on the 347! I am not sure if the dark cloud has lifted or what, but I am really having good vibes that retail and eateries are soon to be plentiful out here in the Copa! Is anyone else looking forward to what is to come? I think this will lift alot of spirts here in the Copa when it really starts up. Chin up people.

Never new McD's was coming. Oh well..

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I'm excited for Ruby Tuesday's..a little. But, the wait is really going to suck on a Friday night!

I'd rather live one day as a lion, than my whole life as a lamb.

You might have to get a job out of town temp. until business gets hopping around here. Did you try Harrah's in their business area/dept.? I hear they are a great company to work for.

I will be excited when I see retail businesses arrive here. By retail stores I am not referring to fast food, dentist offices, or small local mom and pop businesses that nobody shops at.

Personally I would just say that was my experience as each of the towns in the 'Valley' grew up. I was just talking to my parents last night and we were talking about how when we moved to chandler in 88 there was nothing there, then gilbert in 95, but in both of those cases with in a year or two we had all of the same things we had had in Phoenix and Mesa before them. The future IS COMING you cannot stop it....

Excited about retail??? What, the Walmart that may get here in another year or two?? What retail are you possibly excited about?
After 4 years, crappy roads, city leaders that only look out for their own interests, a town that looks like a dump, a school system that is terrible even by Arizona's standard, no.....not excited. Thanks, I feel better now. Sorry, my football team lost.

Lano, you're right about the town being a dump. Someone dumped a water heater at the SE corner of Maricopa Groves and Honeycutt. It sure is beginning to look like the public housing areas on the near south side of Chicago.

I wouldnt discount that some of the people moving out here ARE from the suburbs of South Chicago, or the Slums of Los Angeles.

We definately need an orginization down here to take on the beautification of our roads in and out of the town. I know that I may be alone in this sentiment, but I am will to pay more, to have things done faster, a NGO may be able to do a better job of getting funds or lets increase some of the taxes and get it done already...any suggestions??

If the leaders wanted to, they could set aside money to clean up the medians and have them professionally landscaped. What looks nicer weeds and trash, or trees bushes and rocks?? They have'nt made this a priority.....why? First impressions for potential homebuyers and businesses are huge. Spending $500,000 on a driveway and not a penny on this is ridiculous.

Wow! Hey now TT who took a massive dump in your Wheaties?! Your opinion is a bit well, just slam most of the residents here in the Copa why don't you. We will be happy to bring tax $$$ to the Copa instead of sending them out. Oh, and BTW being such a frigid B--ch gets you no place in life! So sorry your such a miserable individual.

Lano:

Ruby T's will be here in May of 2008 according to their developing rep! We will know of the actual grand opening date 1 month prior, she stated via email. I have been in contact with the persons directly involved with the developement of Ruby Tuesdays, Lowes, MS Fitness, Peter Piper, and several others such as Vestar! That is where you get reliable info from, not on here so much. Instead of everyone feeling so down on their investments out here do something! Light a fire under their butts. Contact Vestar and let them know as residents we need this retail now, not when the magical numbers appear! Come on people chin up and don't be so negative all the time. I agree about the beautification of the entrance to the City, so instead of bitching on here about it I vioced my opinion to the City Officials get on board and do the same and maybe, just maybe someone will listen to us!

Colgate.....how long have we been hearing that next year blah, blah, blah's coming???

But, you're right, I need to get more proactive and less negative. I'm thinking of helping out with our new branding campaign. How's this sound.....

"Are you looking for a new place to call home? How about a community with no streetlights, no sidewalks, and no retail. Aaaah the air.... Do you miss having a dump close by? Do you enjoy the constant drumbeat of police and firefighter sirens? Do you enjoy long, liferisking commutes, with loads of trucks and all the town yahoos prepping for their new Nascar careers? Then do I have a place for you!! Welcome to Maricopa! Located only 15 minutes from hell. Fore more information go to pleasesaveme.com! Whatya think?? Little negative?? I can spice it up a bit.
