Alert | Anyone know about the property UTAZ owns off the corner of Porter and Bowlin? It's across from my house and I noticed they placed some signs for land to be used for a hospital. If this is true, I can walk to the emergency room in the near future!!! | | <--- Say his name anyway way you want, but it's pronounced(nov 08) Mr. President.

Alert | | All I know for sure is that the sign says it's a "hospital site". The UTAZ website doesn't say anything about that location yet. If it IS a hospital, it'll be a good one! They have done the Banner hospitals, Chandler Regional, and Gilbert Mercy among others. I think it would be WONDERFUL if it's a full hospital (emergency and trauma included) and not just a medical village. Let's hope! I, too, am not far from the location (about 1/2 or 3/4 miles) and I think it's a great thing. I only wish it had been there sooner.....

Alert | I hope it is a hospital too but I saw in smaller red letters something about a medical village or village something. So I am lead to believe its just smaller dr offices. Fingers crossed for a real hospital.

Alert | | Wouldn't it say "medical suites/condos" or something to that nature, if it wasn't going to be a hospital? | | <--- Say his name anyway way you want, but it's pronounced(nov 08) Mr. President.

Alert | It could be either a hospital or medical suites, as UTAZ does both. They have several complexes in the Phoenix/Chandler/Mesa area that have dentists, eye doctors, etc., so it could be either. They may be waiting to see how the population holds out, as a hospital would be quite a financial burden if built in an area that financially could not sustain it right now, whereas a medical complex could be rented out to other businesses.
Likely they will put a mention of the property on their web site once they make a detemination as to how to develop the land. Sooner or later we will get a hospital in Maricopa, it is a question as to how long it will take.

Alert | I was curious when I drove by there today, so I called UTAZ and asked. I talked to a pleasant lady named Terry and asked what the deal was. She said the land was purchased by UTAZ after discussion with the city council and the mayer where they said it would be a good location if a hospital were to be built. She said they have not talked to any hospitals, companies or corporations yet, but will be putting the word out soon that Maricopa is interested in a hospital. She said it's easier to get land first and look for developers second than the other way around. As of right now, there are no plans for the land whatsoever. It was just deemed the best spot if we were to get one, and it will be marketed that way. | | Yes, that's really my name

Alert | There is no way we get a hospital before an airport. The city government won't stand for that. | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | | I was told by a few people that are in the healthcare business that 2 hospitals are opening. 1 in Queen Creek and 1 in Florence. They said they are already taking staffing applications for these facilities. They said a hospital usually requires a minimum population before coming and that most doctors need a clientele of 2500 people to support their practice. If this is true, we may not see a hospital for a while.
