What is a dutch oven?

A Dutch oven is a large, heavy casserole pan, most often made of enamel-covered cast iron. It has a tight fitting lid that holds in moisture, so it is primarily used for braising and stewing tough meats and vegetables. Well everyone here seems to be content with the stench of rotting cow turds. Nobody is fighting it and everyone says they are used to it. I guess we have a bit of a social class issue here when people like poop smell.

Cows serve several useful functions. Of what use are your two little rat-dogs? As parasites that serve no useful function and produce poop every day, would not  getting rid of them be the socially responsible thing to do?  

One thing to remember is that (as much as I don't enjoy breathing them in) the cow/chicken smells were here the whole time things were booming. They haven't changed between then and now, so they weren't responsible for the slow-down--that was due to the real estate market in general. That being said, I think the city would be much more attractive to potential residents if it smelled nicer. Upon telling people from other parts of the valley that I live in Maricopa, they've literally responded "that's the place that smells, right?" So we've definitely been getting a reputation...

However, a lot of the antagonism towards Denna comes from her own antagonism towards others--particularly those in the farming industry who have been out here many years before the rest of us were. She has talked about "driving out" the farmers, and has broadly referred to those with any sort of agricultural/rural background as "bumpkins" and "yokels."  That attitude, along with making some pretty ridiculous statements (i.e., obviously not thought through or supported by facts), hasn't exactly endeared her to others on this forum.

If anyone can come up with some practical ways of alleviating some of the smell (other than waiting for things to grow and some farms to be bought out), I'm onboard.

Hi CliffInAZ, there is a way to contain the smell, a methane recovery plant. They have one at the 101/202, that's what those round buildings are. The methane is used for generating electricity, which is what needs to be done here. This isn't only a smart idea as far as green technology, it would be one heck of a money maker. Can you imagine, a second power company here, making money hand over fist with the natural production of manure? If I had the money, I'd do it.
