Alert | And- yes- the correct spelling of the anatomical part is "teats", this is on animals. The mammary gland is simply a defination of the word that I am sure has been tagged for "post removal". The areola is another medical term for the skin around the part that babies suckle on, again may be tagged for removal..... :-0 Any other questions? Thanks for the backup and clarification on that Fritzy!! LOL!!

Alert | Deena there are many people that feel the same way you do. They are tired with the poor quality of standards that seems to be overflowing in this town. From the stench of cow crap permeating the air, lack of adequate roadways, poor leadership, and just an overall indifference of the people wanting to participate in cleaning up this town.
Most people were sold on the fact that you could get a better bang for your buck by moving here. I personally could care less about the real estate downturn as it really has no affect on me and probably never will since I will probably die in my retirement home here. It does affect the quality of growth this town is seeing and that is something that affects everyone even the country folk that have lived here for many years.
I have noticed that the education level and income levels seem to be eroding. What we thought was a growing and educated town is now declining into a very mixed town where renters seem to be taking over and the order of the day seems to be a total lack of respect for your neighbor rather then civility and respect.
Yes Deena, we do seem to be declining rather then progressing. Unfortunately, this will hurt everyone if it continues. Even those educated people that moved here years ago will have to endure long after the educated city dwellers leave and accept their financial dilemna to pursue a better quality environment. So, whether your an old timer in Maricopa or a new resident everyone better start pulling in the same direction otherwise those left here in the end will be living in a waistland. You see, Maricopa will never be like it was before all these houses were built.
So go ahead and strap that useless piece of information on your livestock or HOA letterhead as a reminder of what we all could be looking at if we dont get our collective arses in gear and work together.
As for me, I will continue to enjoy the sunsets as I sip my Cognac and watch this town implode or perhaps harvest itself from the abyss of the Santa Rosa Wash.

Alert | <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/shocked.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Shocked' align='absmiddle'> Oops Codeblu, wrong Deena, the whiner is Denna.
This Deena is full of joy to be living in Maricopa. My husband and I just moved here last week from Globe and believe me, the whiners just don't know how good they have it. Globe is a backwards copper mining town with a Walmart and that's it. There's a McDonalds, Jack In The Box, Sonic, etc; the fast food places are for the people going to Roosevelt Lake, not for the poorly paid residents there.
After my husband accepted a position with the State, we looked in all areas of the Valley for a home and kept coming back to Maricopa. We love that it is a growing area with nice homes and wonderful people while still retaining the qualities of rural life. Crime is non existent compared to Globe, where gangs and drug activity abound. The established homes and businesses haven't a clue as to what looks nice or how to keep things clean. Yes, I know there's a thick cow manure scent during an inversion here, so what, that's nothing compared to the lack of ethics or morals and poor quality of life in Globe.
The 347? If you only knew what a fabulous highway it is. We're used to two lanes through mountainous passes; while it's a gorgeous drive, it's extremely dangerous when idiots think they can drive 20 mph over the speed limit or pass on solid lines on the dangerous curves. And we won't even talk about the hour and a half drive to get to my Rhuematologist (there are no specialists in Globe and there's a severe lack of GP's and nurses, some doctors won't even take on new patients any more).
No, this wonderful city is perfect in our eyes. We're even encouraging family members to come and have a look and move here. My youngest son and his family have already decided to find a home here, we can't wait until they do.

You had me right up until this line....347 is not a fabulous highway. BTW.....it's time to start the comparisons to things that are better, beacuase we should want better. Sure, if you compare the 347 to the dirt roads you were on, of course you're happy. If you're being diverted 20 miles in another direction from where you're going that's another story. Welcome to Maricopa Deena.

Alert | | I come from the complete opposite of twinkleblue. My wife and I were both born and raised in orange county california. Both of us have grown up with the beach, disneyland, and anything else you could ever want within close proximity and not to mention wonderful weather. The issue there is the ridiculous price of housing. We recently decided that we were willing to trade all the convienience and wonderful things we have in orange county for the opportunity to actually own a home. We bought our house in maricopa for 170k. The same house in orange county where we live would cost over 600k(way over that). We paid $1200 a month for a tiny one bedroom apt. with absolutely no ammenities and thought we would never have a home. The mortgage is less than that in maricopa. We feel very blessed for the opportunity the city of maricopa is giving us. Nowhere is perfect, but we need to be appreciative of what we have.

STUDGLOVE, I couldn't agree with you more. I lived in Orange County for over 20 years and my whole family is way happier here. I really enjoy not having a house payment that exceeds $4,000 a month, and taking toll roads to work to avoid the 1.5 hour traffic jam every morning and evening to travel less than 30 miles. My basic utilities were also more in Orange County, electricity was .19 kWh now in Maricopa it's about $.10kWh. I lived in San Clemente so I still had to drive 15 miles to a mall or Target. If you wanted to go out to dinner you would have to wait at least 45 minutes to get in. I know the weather there is ideal (if you like cold and damp) but here we have at least 5-6 months of beautiful weather. I was reading the paper this morning and was surprised that Michigan and Ohio are leading the nation in foreclosures followed by California and Florida. Arizona and Maricopa in particular has been very good to me and my family. I'm very thankful for what we have here.

It seems like Jason and others give the city constant ADOT outs. You would never see ugly medians like ours in Chandler. You would never see intersections and stop lights on the I17 or the 10. You would never see the people in Chandler and Tempe getting photo radar on the 10 when they didn't vote for it. However, in Maricopa, the city government has no control apparently and they just sit back and let everything occur around them? I am not buying it."
PLEASE, please, PLEASE, GO BACK to Chandler!

Alert | Mmmmnmnnmm COW smell! We moved out here 4 years ago for this reason and when market prices dramatically rise in a few tears we intend on moving further into the hills where the H.O.A. doesn't rule the homeowner. As long as there is no ghetto bird flying multiple passes over the same area in town, than that's fine for us now!

Alert | | Ghetto bird is fine, notable, english for police run helicopter used to aid and assist in the capture of futile attempts of passage. Ever lived in the city and upon a long day of work coming home to listen to the police helicopter flying back and forth endlessly in the night sky?...Ghetto Bird!

Alert | | Seriously, if you have such a problem with the community you've chosen to live in, why not just move and leave us "cow people" be. I've lived here my entire life and have never heard so much complaining about small "inconviences" EVER! No, we're not some huge metropolis with pavement everywhere. We don't have sky scrapers, bus services, upscale dinning or theatre, but this is our home. Respect it or move to somewhere you can feel more comfortable.
