The new mall in Casa Grande is 25 miles from Tortosa. I drove there and that was my mileage.<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/cool.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Cool' align='absmiddle'>

Most of the stores are still in various stages of construction. We were there last Friday and Target, J.C. Penney, Dillards, Staples and PetSmart are a few that are already open. The only restaurant about ready to open is Mimi's.

It is going to be a nice shopping center when completed.

I think that will change, my friend. The Interstate 10 corridor between Phoenix and Tucson is poised for explosive growth, according to the experts. Casa Grande, along both sides of I-10, has changed already!

In my opinion, we Maricopans must devote ALL our available resources to solving our ground transportation crisis. If we don't, then we should be content watching other nearby cities grow to be what we once dreamed would be our destiny.

Cactus Rob, 347 is virtually a 2 lane divided highway, I10 is a 2 lane divided highway. If everyone in Casa Grande had jobs in Chandler, you'd see the same problems in I10 as you do on the 347. Focus on attracting jobs to Maricopa will reduce the need for a third lane on the 347.

You're mixing apples and oranges. I-10 is a controlled access highway with a speed limit of 75 mph and designed to handle 3 or 4 times that of the 347. If you don't believe me, ask ADOT.

Also, Casa Grande residents can access the I-10 from Pinal Ave., Florence Ave., Jimmie Kerr Blvd., and maybe another that I'm not aware of. They also have easy access to I-8.

Casa Grande has been able to attract job producing industries because of its easy access via ground transportation. Industry wants assurances that sufficient ground transportation routes are available to assure they will be able to get needed supplies and to deliver their finished products to their customers.

If I could get a decent job in Casa Grande I would never use the 347 again................

I have been to that shopping center, it is pretty nice, definitely an alternative to the 347 mess we currently have going on. I definitely will go in to this shopping center more and to Casa Grande in general now that they have a Petsmart! My Drago is a picky beardie! And Petsmart has the fresh crickets for him

Focus on jobs in Maricopa and that will reduce the need for a third lane????

Even in 15 years if Maricopa does manage to bring jobs into our community, we'll still need a third lane for the 85% that will still be working in Phoenix.

The other exit is McCartney Rd. There are a total of four exits off I-10. I-8 has three exits to CG.

Industry is also served by rail spurs, as well as the interstate access. Plus there is a truck cross-dock facility under construction just off I-10 and Jimmie Kerr.

As far as the Mall, keeping the sales tax dollars in CG and Pinal County will go a long way to growing the communities. The constant drain of tax dollars to Maricopa County costs the communities multi-fold. Depending on the study, each dollar spent in a community, is actually $7 spent in the community. It works by the business owner paying the employees. The employee goes to the grocery store, hairdresser, florist etc. They in turn pay employees and on and on.

Businesses also pay a higher percentage of property tax when compared to residential. The more businesses, ultimately lower property taxes for residences.

All area communities need to work hard at attracting retail, commercial and industrial businesses. The more we can work, shop, and recreate where we live, the better off we'll be financially.

ChimneyDuck might not be too far off the mark. I-10 is pretty stressed right now with the traffic from Tucson and all the trucking traffic. If you were to add most of the CG residents to that, it might well break down. Have you seen the difficulty Anthem residents face commuting on I-17?

You are far more likely to be involved in a serious or fatal accident on that highway as opposed to 347.

>>thats hard to believe when the morons put traffic signals on the highway instead of on ramps and overpasses. which genius at the state did this.

I sometimes wonder if ADOT is run by CALtrans rejects and the state is run by the b team from the City of Chicago

I went tonight and checked out the new mall. The stores are nice only because they are new. The people shopping there are a different story. Ghetto and White Trash. I now remember why I shop in Chandler and Scottsdale.

I've always wondered if those who live in Chandler and Scottsdale think the same way about those who live in Maricopa.

My wife and I are sure glad we weren't there this evening. Had we been there can't you just imagine how we would be feeling about now!

They probably do. The arrogance is rather revolting.

I like the mall there and will like it even more as more shops continue to open...and when In-n-Out Burger opens, I'll have a new home! My tax dollars will stay in this county as much as is practical.

With regard to the I-10 vs 347 debate, did anyone read the articles last week in the Republic about I-10's pending expansion? Evidently ADOT has been able to secure Gila River's approval to expand I-10 two (and later three) extra lanes in each direction between Chandler and Casa Grande over the next few years. I was rather surprised to hear that, since Gila River has essentially flat-out refused to allow 347 to be modified from its current state.
