I've never seen so many opinions about a business that isn't even open yet. Most of them seem strong one way or the other. Have you guys been to one of the other chains, or just not like the owner?

I know there are a million other threads about this business, but I wanted this one just to be able to answer this specific question. I want to log on tomorrow and not have to read through all the other threads' name callings and other rhetoric.

As for me, I think it sounds like a mix of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Jamba Juice. Interesting. I only drink black coffee, and mostly tea. I also drink more protein shakes than fruit smoothies. But, I'll probably check this place out, at least to see what all the buzz is about.

Good question. I have no opinion of the chain or of this store. But I'm turned off of this store by all the arguing the future owner has done online here. It has been very unprofessional and not activity you would expect from a person with many years of management experience. Maui Wowi ia all over the banners and nobody will miss the grand opening date.
I believe the owner should just go silent when people make comments that are negative (under both screen names).
I'm sure I will try it because I love coffee, especially true Kona.

I agree with Silence. There are banners all over the site, I'm sure something will go up at the actual store location soon ("coming soon"etc). There can't possibly be a soul in Maricopa that doesn't know about this new business. But I do believe that the owner has gone way overboard with the tooting of the horns and such on all the various threads. I have found it unprofessional and unneccesary on many accounts. The 2 screen name things gets me too, whats the point?
Honestly, I was indifferent with the addition of this store to Maricopa. But the online behavior of the owner has really turned me off. I won't be in a rush to go try it out.

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

Thank you all for your opinions, and I am truly sorry if I have seemed argumentative, however as Ace of Spades pointed out "how can someone judge something before they try it?" It's pretty hard as an owner to sit beck and watch uncalled for negativity, especially since they don"t know me. Ace you are correct, we have Smoothies, Coffee's and teas, the difference between Maui Wowi and the others as they are all from Hawaii, Kona is a specialty. Smoothies are all natural, fat free and most are on the heart association list, for the tea lovers the flavors are a wonderful assortment. The two screen names, I have one form me and one for the business to alter my advertising, its that simple. I did not start all the threads If you look I started one asking for opinions on something to bring in the store. the others were started by others. Silence, is exactly what I was going to post today, I have too much to do to get this place ready to deal with the constant bickering that goes on and quiet frankly I am tired of defending it. If you want to come your more than welcome, if not that is your decision either way, Mahalo,

ONe thing we all need to remember is its human nature to be defensive.

always is simply reacting to much negativity that has been incorrectly directed towards her.

I will try Maui and the wasabi macadamia nuts ....

I will most likely try this place depending on the prices. Don't see the point in a $6 cup of coffee but I agree that there has been way to much bickering about it.

Please no one say anything negative about a business that does not exist! Only say negative things about businesses that DO exist. Carry on....

Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real. Somewhere in their upbringing they were shielded against the total facts of our experience. They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist.

Well in all fairness, if you are going to step into the light, you can expect some heat. :-) That's not to justify personal attacks or anything, it's just to point out that those who take risks are the bearers of the benefits AND the downsides of that risk. One cannot merely expect the benefits (i.e. financial success, pillar-of-the-community status, local fame, etc) while simultaneously decrying the drawbacks (i.e. silly talk on a web forum). It's a total package that you've committed to, and you should be commended for that bold step.

As far as the opinion of the place, no, I have never patronized a Maui Wowi shop before. If it were in town I'd certainly try it out, as I prefer to keep my tax dollars here and would like to see local businesses stay successful. Do I think the store-related posting here has been a bit excessive? Sure. It probably could have been handled better (for instance, keeping one thread going instead of two or more; posting under one screen name instead of two, etc) and I'm sure that's something that the store owner will consider after gauging some of the reaction here.

That's nothing personal, it's merely a critique on the rather heavyhanded marketing campaign that we've witnessed here. Marketing professionals are wise enough to examine public reaction to their campaigns and make adjustments accordingly...I'm confident we'll see an adjustment soon enough. :-) Cheers!

I agree! It's pretty rash to make judgements before you actually have experience with something. But I think that people who give bad reviews are hoping that others won't even give the new business a chance. It's almost as though they have something to gain by seeing the business go down.

That's why I always have in the back of my head that there's a competition of sorts afoot.

It seems quite obnoxious to be posting about your business on a website that is for the community to talk about issues that affect them. I dont know why but the first time I saw a MW post, I was just put off. Thats my opinion.

Take the information that you see here as feedback, and remember all feedback is good feedback, but you dont need to write back on here to everything written about your business. Feedback on your business is one way, be so lucky that you can at least see what people are saying and use that instead of arguing everything that is said on here.

And get rid of the logo, how lame to post your advertisements in the FORUM!!!!!

I always try to check out theses new businesses for myself. Best of luck to all new business owners.

Its lame because:

1. You have decided you have carte blanche to post advertisements all over the forum because you pay to have banners or other adds on the site. The Forum is supposed to be ad free, with reviews and information.

2. Are these valid posts??!?!?!? I think they are just ads:

Just as an FYI to all of you incredible weight watchers (and I mean incredible) We have the points for all Maui smoothies, and they are LOW!!!! (Not a plug, but just a nice sweet treat for you all ) ... Keep up your great losses each of you should be very proud.

we have Smoothies, Coffee's and teas, the difference between Maui Wowi and the others as they are all from Hawaii, Kona is a specialty. Smoothies are all natural, fat free and most are on the heart association list, for the tea lovers the flavors are a wonderful assortment

3. You are asking the forum to do your business or market research, what should we sell, what do you like? That type of research is something businesses pay for. You are using a community forum to run your business.

4. You didnt start all of the threads, but you have posted hundreds of responses that didnt have anything to do with the line of discussion, but were simply there to plug your business.

Its lame, obnoxious, over bearing, it put me off, and im sure its put plenty of others off. You are not the only person on here who owns a business, or advertises on the site, you will notice you are however the only person that blasts you business all over the forum. Im sure you get away with this because you pay for banner adds but this thread was asking why people seemed so upset with you and your business when you havnt even opened. That is my opinion. You cant even help yourself, can you? Every little thing on here drives you nuts and sits with you all day, until you have to tell me that you are going to keep posting your logo. LOL OK, you win, keep the logo on your posts, ill make sure to patronize establishments that dont give me such a bad feeling about them before I even go in the place.

Your decision to work on your business instead of posting or replying lasted four days....

Where did you get that idea? Read the TOU, which is written by...wait for it...the owner of this site, who decides that ads are allowed.

MAUI WOWI MAUI WOWI MAUI WOWI MAUI WOWI MAUI WOWI

I love stirring the pot. I am glad a new business is coming to Maricopa, I was tired of seeing those Cexi ads anyways. That name is worse than the "Copa".........lol

I got it from the Forum Terms of Use, I didnt say the site, I said the Forum, which says quite clearly:

post or use the Forum for advertising or promoting your business or for-profit organization

solicit other users to join, become members of, or contribute money to any online blog, forum, service or other organization

Which is...wait....wait....wait for it....where I got that idea. Ads are allowed on the site, where they are....wait...wait...im sure required to be paid for...not in the...wait...wait...forum which is free, and specifcally says no ads.

Im glad to see a new business coming to town, would have tried it, except the owner really put me off before I even had a chance to check it out. Too bad. Which I think is what Ace asked for to begin with, the reason I have an opinion about Maui Wowi is because the owner has name dropped their business in virtually every thread on 85239. Which to me is annoying at the least, to then see that they respond to every thing written about them makes me feel like they see this as an extention of their business, a place where they can conduct their public relations campaign, which bothers me more.

I, too, had hoped that she would catch on and discontinue her posts and rebuttals here, for her own good. Nope. It continues. I guess she doesn't get it. Too bad.
