Alert | Can't believe another fitness place, but I guess with all the pizza joints, we need it. LOL. I have a nickname for Maricopa, "Fat food, oops fast food, capital of the Valley". Sorry, couldn't resist. | | Love Comes To The Forest

Alert | | Hopefully Mountainside will offer more than the ones in town right now. I pay 96/year for a Bally's membership. I'd spend more for a local one if they had raquetball, basketball, pool ect... but not just weights and machines. Im not knocking the local gyms. They just are not worth the money for me. | | Pizzaking Wasnt a member 0 posts

Oh it's ok, you can knock the local gyms. I think they are a rip off. 30 bucks a month for what??

Alert | MFC is a full service gym, I think you will all be pleased with it. Personally, I can't wait for to open. Just to give you and idea what to expect, the other locations offer; full service childcare, basketball, weights, cardio, various classes, locker rooms with sauna and steam room, personal training and smoothie bars. Not to mention the job oppurtunities.

Alert | | Honestly, I'm not sure of the current rates, but every month has new specials and they don't do contracts. When they get started down here there will be specials for the grand opening if I remember right.

Alert | | I have never been to mountainside fitness however i recently called them to ask about their club.I was very disappointed to find out that they DO NOT have POOLS or RACQUETBALL. so I joined lifetime fitness in tempe(by ikea)SO far ive been blown away by their facility!!!4 pools(outdoor and indoor),tennis courts, basketball, squash, huge weight room and masssive cardio machines!!etc, etc.i know I sound like a paid coomercial for them but im NOT.what makes me UPSET is that MOUNTAINSIDE fitness is coming here but they dont have the same facilities is even an LA FITNESS!(but they charge aprox. the same rates

Alert | I agree...we have really no option here except 2 gym and 1 of those is the size of a closet! they both are expensive. i used to belong to Ballys and it was only $22 per month for me and i could have renewed for only $12 per month/ no contract!!!! But i chose not to since I live now in copa and the drive to chandler to go to the gym is too damn far! Now i'm stuck having to walk around the neighborhood for exercise cuz these local gyms are like $100 down and $30 per month for something the size of most apartment gyms and I can stand working out and bumping shoulders with others....I understand they need to make money but honestly I cant wait for the Mountainside to open. i'll pay 30 per month for a FULL sized, REAL gym... | | "...you knew that before you came here"- The 85239.com's stupid answer to every comment"

Alert | | I love Mountainside. I go to the one in Chandler. I pay for the year at once, so you get a better discount. I think it was like $29 a month, which includes unlimited daycare whne you go there for all you kids. Which I think is a super good deal. I wish they had a pool too, but they don't. Otherwise I really like the atmosphere and people.

Alert | | dang....they are way behind schedule!!!! My GF and I talked about this last night. As soon as MS is up and running, these little mom and pop gyms are gonna be forced to close or charge like $10 per month memberships, which you know they will not do. | | "...you knew that before you came here"- The 85239.com's stupid answer to every comment"

Alert | I find it ironic that there are so many threads on this forum about how high the business rents are, how small business owners can barely get by and so many businesses are closing and how as a community we should support our small business owners and yet here is another negative local business thread complaining about the two individually owned gyms.
First off - neither has enrollment fees - Secondly, if the monthly price is too high for you then it is your option to join elsewhere - but most importantly - you might want to stop and think that these two businesses are owned by local men with families, mortgages, kids, etc struggling to get by each month due to the cost of operating here in Maricopa, while Mountainside is a corporate entity with significant financial resources.
It is your right to choose where to join, based upon what fits your needs but quite another to hope that "these mom and pop shops" fail or are forced to charge $10 a month putting them out of business.

Alert | NY44, I think your missing the point. I agree i would like to see small shops and business's suceed, hell, my family owns a small business back in California. The fact of the matter is, that its gonna be hard to operate a full Gym with a huge company like MS moving in across the street. Also the fact that memberships run approx $30 per month and $60 for a family is pricey compared to a larger gym like ballys, MS or LA Fitness which may have the same rates or maybe even lower dues...and even places like ballys have no enrollment fees. Its not to pick on the smaller gyms its just the darwinism in society.
* BTW I was TURNED OFF with the Xtreme Fitness place next to Fry. went in on a sunday and when I walked in, I woke a kid up from behind the desk to ask infomation on how to join. he knew no information and kept saying "im not sure"...Sorry you gotta hire a better staff than that 17YO kid, Xtreme!! plus that place was too claustrophobic for me. Alot smaller than Anytime Fitness... | | "...you knew that before you came here"- The 85239.com's stupid answer to every comment"
