Since they're coming to Maricopa. . .

Has anyone been to any of their grocery stores? It sounds like they are very similar to Trader Joe's from the flyers that they mailed out. What are they really like?

I'll believe that they're coming, when I see it built.

I got a thing in the mail that said where they were coming and that they would be hiring. Never been in one but I hope they are like Trader Joes or Sprouts.

I got the thing in the mail from them too. I think it's pretty safe to say that if they're sending out a letter and pamphlet to everyone, they're actually going to be coming to town. That's some pretty serious advertising for a maybe. I haven't been to Sprouts either, but I'm hoping they're like Trader Joe's.

What does the flyer say? Does it say when they are coming and where?

It doesn't say when but it says that they're starting work on their store near 347 and Hathaway (the street the post office is on).

It also gives their website www.freshandeasy.com which has pretty much exactly the same info that's in the flyer about what type of grocery store they are, how they hire locally and treat their employees well, environmentally and community friendly (they say they do things like not have night time deliveries at stores near homes and don't drive through school zones and school zone times), donate locally, their brands don't have artificial colors or flavors or trans fats in them, they say they are affordable and smaller than the avg grocery store (10,000 sq.ft) - alot of the same things Trader Joe's is liked for.

I'd like to know when they're opening!

Here is a link to the developers site. Seems they have a lot going on in Maricopa, including the lot on Bowlin and JWP.

I am told it is a store about the size of Walgreens and similar to a Sprouts or Trader Joe's. I am jazzed. It is going to be in that empty lot on the corner of 347 and Hathaway....across from the medical facility where Dr. Paul is. I am not sure when....but hurry hurry hurry!

There is a Coming Soon sign up at Alma School and Elliot Rd. where one is going in.

There are no Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Markets open in America yet. The parent company is Tesco (3rd largest retailer in the world). It always takes some time to go through city reviews and approvals then construction so I would expect an opening by summer or fall of next year. From the research I've done, they are reputable and being comparred the most to Trader Joe's. It will be nice to have an environmentally friendly health conscious store in town!

Pretty optimistic for this city! The sooner the better for anything like Trader Joes!

If you look at the AZ map on their website they are planning quite a few stores for the valley.
http://www.freshandeasy.com/whereweare.aspx

They already have job postings for the Chandler location, so I don't think that one will be that far off. Their website says they will have 30 stores open by the end of the year. Who knows how long until the Maricopa one opens, but its definitely a good thing for us.

Here is a good article from the Economist:

Thanks,

I went to their website and asked if they planned on putting a store in Maricopa, there were many people who would greet a higher end store with open arms.

I suggest everyone who wants such a store to come to Maricopa do the same, that'd tip the scales to any planner if a good number of people asked to pick their town for a new storefront.

THANK GOD! I hope it is like Sprouts... hate driving the 347 to get to them but well worth it!
Trader Joes is cool too but Sprouts has a bigger selection of organic products (not just food).

Unfortunately I don't think that we'll see this soon. They haven't even gone in front of the planning commission yet to have everything approved. And with 2007 just about over I think that we're looking at least the beginning of 2009. That's if they get the ball rolling very soon.

This sounds great. I really think they'll have a great customer base here. It sounds like a lot of us have been dying for a store like this to open up here in Maricopa.
