Alert | | I'm with all of you. About city hall spending...did you see article that they OK'd paving their temporary city hall parking lot to the tune of $300,000? BTW, it will be torn up at end of 2008 when they move. Doesn't give me a warm feeling. If they want the airport or anything else, somehow they get it!

Alert | If this is should a good money making deal, private investors would have financed the deal. Any time a govement body gets involved, it means that the deal is not good. If it was, private money would have done it.

Alert | | Dumb Dumb Dumb. Have planes flying over your house and see who will ever buy it from you. Right now you can hardly drive to and from work without spending hours on the roads and these people think a airport is what needs to be done ? Out of touch or a hand in someone's pocket is all i can think of. I come from Illinois where one small town built a airport about 7 years ago. Property values on the homes fell 50 %.

Alert | Aircraft Carriers always had to be alligned with the prevailing winds for our guys to roll it on. I imagine its the same way for these boys flying in the desert southwest. If Im not mistaken the winds always blow from the East or West here in Arizona. I know this because my Cigar Smoke is always blowing toward the Maricopa Mountains or toward Casa Grande.
I mention this as it brings up the question of which way these birds will be flying when they come and go. I sure as heck hope its not over my house.
Now Contemplating the Flight Pattern as I look toward the Sky with Cigar and Cognac in hand!

Alert | Does Ed Beauvais work for Coffman & Associates? We need to get this question answered. Does anyone have the answer? What is Ed Beauvais connection with Coffman & Associates?
This is a good question for 85239.com to pursue.

They could have saved the money and asked us if we wanted an airport. This city isn't that big that the people's voices can't be heard...

Alert | Well I ges its a good thing that we got Ed Beauvais to tell us that we needed to hire another consulting firm to tell us that the feasibility of an airport for Maricopa was a possibility. I guess our next step should be to hire another consulting firm to tell us if the FAA will even allow an additional airport in this area.

Alert | There are two possible locations for the airport. Both are within the area that the city wants to annex. One is north of 238. The other is south of Papago Road, in the Thunderbird/Papago farms area. The latter has the better approach/departure path.
You didn't really think they want to annex TBF to keep the residents from being swallowed up by Goodyear, did you? | | Stupid should hurt!

Alert | | Don't get so excited people! I grew up with Greater Pittsburgh International Airport in my back yard and I survived!! The final approach was over our house. It was not that bad. I also prior to moving here lived 1 mile from Monroe Regional Airport and you did not here a thing. Once I thought the Good Year blimp was landing on the roof of my house while in town for the Lowes Motor Speedway Race other than that it was all good! We are only speaking of a small regional airport here in the Copa. The planes are not going to land in your driveway! Well, let's hope not anyway. By having a small airport this brings business, eateries, rental car agencies, poss. industry, some form of public transit, extended stay suites, The Bunny Ranch (just kidding!) | | Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

Alert | | I like airports and airplanes. Hell I spent most of my so called adult life working on them. I have even lived adjacent to airports. I think that almost makes me knowledgeable on the subject. What do we need an airport for? Is Southwest gonna drop in? How bout all those ceos in G-4s and Citation Xs you know they'll be here to check out all the business opportunities. It'll be a boondoogle and anything that does fly there will just be a reason to bitch. Piss away that money on roads and we won't have to fly outta here

Alert | There was a close family friend that had a house in the flight path of LAX and they had an extremely hard time selling their home because of it and took a loss once they finally did sell. So in my opinion it does affect the value of the homes.
Also, small airports are not always better than the larger ones. One of my grandma's lived right across the street from one and several times the pilots flew in to low and literally took the tops off of their tress as they were trying to land and the trees were not that much bigger than the house itself. Another small airplane had also misjudged the runway and ended up crashing into a neighbor of hers. Luckily the neighbor was not home at the time. So I could care less if it's a large airport or a small one, I would not want it to be near my house. There are other and better ways of generating business in Maricopa instead of relying on a airport to do that for us.
