We need a lot more trafic lights in Maricopa, especially if Walmart is coming.</div>
You are kidding right?
I hit 7 traffic lights to get out of town (soon to be 8 when they finish the light by the high school), and they are timed so that if you are doing the speed limit (35 is rediculous on a road with 3 lanes on each side btw), you will get stopped at EVERY one of them.
I agree one should have been put in at the intersection of 347 and 238. But the light every two blocks isn't helping. Actually, I think it makes it worse. Traffic is not given time to thin out over a longer stretch, keeping cars together, actually increasing the likelihood of an accident in my opinion.
People just need to obey the traffic signs and signals that are already in place to prevent accidents. When there is a stop sign: STOP!!!
And my two cents: I hear all the griping about people going around everyone and cutting people off in the Merge lanes to get on I-10. How about at the intersection of JW Parkway and Smith-Enke...you know it merges people....plan ahead.
Anyway...I am off topic now...Yipee Wal-Mart!!! I can't wait to have a department store here in town. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I will take it.

Vinny,
As an ex Realtor, I can honestly say that it is a known fact in the Real Estate industry that Wal-Mart brings down the property value of nearby homes. Hope you do not live tooooo close to there.</div>
I don't believe this at all. Where we used to live in Mesa there was no Walmart close when we 1st moved there. A couple years later a Super Walmart and a Walmart grocery store were both built pretty close to our house. Lower our property value? NOT! We sold our house for double what we paid for it. We were there for 5 years, but it was a really small house and we made a good profit.
The funniest thing is that people tried to keep Walmart from coming there too and it didn't work. When it did open, they were some of the 1st people to shop there. How do I know this? Because I know some of the people that were trying to stop it! Having a Walmart open or any major store like it will help our city cause Maricopa will be getting our sales tax dollars instead of Chandler or CG.
I'm sure that some of you would prefer something else besides Walmart, but like it or not, Walmart is coming. It doesn't make sense to stop it either. I say bring on all the big businesses! This city needs them! I can't wait! Walmart, here I come! | |

i hope they put it up right next door! i'm a renter, i knew buying in the inflated market would be a disaster. So i rented a house here cheap and watched the prices drop over $100,000 for a house. i made the right choice.
persoanlly, if i'm going to be living in an area where my neibor is 6 feet away i better be able to buy underwear close by as well. 30 minute drive when i need a t-shirt is not going to bring values up.
