FYI for some of you people....

I "heard" Harrah's is expanding into a 5 star resort and they will have sooooooooo many opportunities for businesses in that development. There is a sign in the field next to the casino advertising space. Granted, it won't be open until 2010 or something, but just an idea.

I'm moving back to civilization on 9/1!!

We've (DH and I) been talking about this for some time and have it fairly well planned out. Maybe by posting it someone will actually make it happen lol!

We want to open a bowling alley with an arcade and snack bar. Outside we would have a track for go kart racing on one side of the building and miniature golf on the other side! We could hold bowling Birthday parties (my kids love those) and have special's for each local elemetary school, like a reading reward incentive type thing.

Irish, love your idea. But maybe also incorporate indoor/outdoor paintball depending on the weather. Poor kids around here need something to do. Well and the big kids too of course!!!

Go Broncos!!!!

Buy that old train car that sits back from the tracks and make it a restaurant for romantic dinners and private parties.....

Who actually owns that and why is it just sitting idle????

if i had the money to invest i would pay to have my house moved to desert hills. or any place far far far away from here! because no matter how much money is put into this town or what ever it is its not going to do much for it. Theres only so many things you can do with a turd!

Uhhh...that was the train station. You know, before the modular building was constructed. You'd go in there, and buy a ticket from the clerk, and sit on the steps, and wait for the train.

so I assume it's owned by the railroad...was there ever any interest by them to do anything else with it?

Not to the best of my knowledge. AMTRAK was the entity that used it before, so if the railroad car is owned by them, that would make it a Federal entity. Goodness knows whether they would like to get red of it or not.

It's a pretty historical thing to see a Zephyr car like that around. There aren't many left from that era at all.

Or in this case, it sounds like he is the holder of his own turd. I just wonder, were these people really happy anywhere they have lived? Or are we just dreaming....I would love to have a place on central park, and a cabin in vail...but alas I am brought back to the real world. I bought in Maricopa because I wasnt happy where I was (metro Phoenix area), and because it was affordable.

-You moved away from somewhere you loved before???? You had a house in Scottsdale? right next to the best shopping and employment areas, and you moved here?!?!-

Probably not.....probably moved her for the same reasons, now suddenly the town is to blossom into Tempe over night? and its a turd when it doesnt? Some people need to ask themselves, is it the place, or the person that is a turd. This town will develope into a nice place to live, and it will always be a distinct place away from the Metro area. That is why most of us were able to buy a home here, because towns that are already a nice place to live are already too expensive to live in, right?

That's what I mean GG..how cool would it be if it was renovated to its original state and made into a romantic restaurant!

You know, cb.....I started this thread for the purpose of sharing business ideas...and keeping a positive attitude about the future of Maricopa.

I'm willing to wait! And there are plenty of Maricopians willing to also!

Personally I would say that I would make a point of checking out a high class eatery that was made out of the train car there, what a great idea! Seems like just the thing this town needs to class it up a little bit, there has to be at least one place in town where you can get a good glass of wine at some point!

I would open a real old fashioned bakery. Cakes, cookies , pies etc..
Then I'd get fat eating it all!
I love the idea for the railroad car. I also wondered why it is just sitting there. What
a great use for it!

I'd open a "no-kill" animal shelter that would always have room for more! And free neuter or spading!

I would bring an EEGEE's to the area. Can't seem to get them to expand out of Tucson. Best slushes and grinders.

I have taken the step to add the business I think Maricopa could use and enjoy... a ladies secondhand clothing boutique.
I get 99% of my clothes from Scottsdale and offer them here at huge savings.
Top of the line designers and brands.
Many of the women that have purchased my clothes over the last 18 months south of Hidden Valley kept saying Maricopa women would love these clothes, so here I go. I guess I will soon find out if there are smart, thrifty women living in Maricopa or if they enjoy driving to Chandler etc and spending too much for quality clothes when it is right in their back yard?
Wish me luck!
