i heard from a representative of a local home builder here in maricopa that smith-enke was eventually going to run out to the 10. has anybody else heard this, and if so, do you know when this is supposed to happen? this person had no other information.

Yes, I have heard that. But I don't think it is high on the agenda. The only people who talk about it are the builders in Tortosa.

Smith Enke goes into the UofA Agricultural Center. Between that and I-10 is Reservation so it is highly unlikely that both would agree to have their areas disrupted. Considering that I-10 is not schedulled to be widened between 347/Queen Creek Rd. and Casa Grande this would just make I-10 a parking lot.

There are plans however that once the 202 loop is completed from Ahwatukee to Laveen there will be another cut through road put in by the Casino and Resort from that Loop to 347.

That part of the 202 should have been one of the first loops since it will eventually relieve the inner freeways of truck traffic passing through Phoenix as well as those crazy enough to live on one side of the valley and work on the other i.e. Intel and Palo Verde Employees.

It would also be nice if the 347 became a mini freeway - 3 wide each way, make the quary plant & Riggs Rd. overpasses and widen the bridge and on ramp where 347 hits I-10

Common lie perpetrated by builders reps. Not on the radar. Prognosis negative. Go to http://www.cityofmaricopa.net/archive/Assets/SATS-Executive.pdf and check the last image, it shows possible alternates. Honeycut is shown as a "possible".

The first ballon is a nebulous reference to Honeycut and SE, the street with the double arrows is Bowlin and the third is Farrell. The Bowlin and Farrell seem to be the front runners right now, though I think SE would be a good option.

When your grandkids are old enough to drive, they will reap the benefits of that additional access. Don't foresee it happening very soon.

I'd say within a year we'll have another access route to I-10.

I doubt this will be true.

I learned real quick not to believe what a builder will say to get you to buy in their neighborhood!

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

I tried that and it said the file was corrupt and could not be repaired. Any idea on the file thread on the website?

this is getting old. this is called post wh0ring and it is completely unnecessary. You're taking up valuable space by having 4K posts of which most of them say nothing. Please stop, it's not funny any more.

ADOT does plan to widen I-10:

ADOT's 5-year spending plan includes $3.6 billion for Valley

These items in particular:

• The widening of Interstate 10 south from its junction with Interstate 8 to the Picacho Peak interchange, adding a lane in each direction for travelers between Phoenix and Tucson.

• The start of a project to widen I-10 from the boundary of the Gila River Reservation to the I-8 junction.

ADOT does plan to widen I-10:

The latter road-widening project is coming about partly in anticipation of projected traffic growth as a result of the new mall being built in Casa Grande. Looks like I-10 will eventually be a 6-and-8-lane thoroughfare from the Gila River southern limits to Picacho Peak. The stretch that runs through the Gila River land, however, will remain as it is today. That'll be an absolute mess ten years from now.

GilaGuy,

I had a hard time finding a map superimposing GRIC's land area onto the area where I-10 goes. From what I could gather, GRIC's land goes all the way down to I-8 right? If so, that's how I interpreted the second bullet as meaning from Loop 202 south to I-8. Was I wrong in interpreting their land area?
