guess what's coming to town?  nothing!  hasn't that been proven by all the businesses that are pulling out?  maybe everyone will stop trashing the businesses that are surviving in this town.

No one on this post has trashed a single existing business ... it's not been negative at all.

Didn't you move out of Maricopa?

Who seen the front page of the communicator?

The article states that Ultrastar is still looking for a location, and they plan to be open in "early 2009". the article paints a very exciting picture of this theater.

The article also mentions "the wells" development. It states that Walgreen's has signed a contract. Walmart is mentioned as "fully committed to opening in the wells and the delay in the development is not due to the slow down of the economy" that is exciting news. its mentioned in the article that walmart typically takes 11 months to build and open a new store.

Home Depot is mentioned as shown on the plans that i posted above, but still in negotiations for their space.

Looks like maricopa360.com has more info about these developments, including the 3rd one to the west of the under construction walmart. No stores are listed for this development. When is this site going to dig in and post some news about the best growth in maricopa in about 3 years?

This all looks wonderful and I look forward to being here when it's all complete! Thanks to those of you who have posted "maps" of the proposed areas. It's kinda cool to look at and imagine what it will all be like....

I should be very exciting. At the planning and zoning meeting last night the change of zoning, landscaping and elevations for the stonegate project was approved.

Between the wells (walmart), Stonegate (to the west of walmart), and the ultrastar development we now have about one million square feet of retail development underway here in maricopa. More restaurants, banks, and stores are coming! 2010 should be a very exciting year for our city. The days of maricopa being know as a city lacking goods and services are going to be short lived. In about another year and a half the the thought of driving to chandler for what you want should be a distant memory!

A movie theater!  I'm doing my happy jig.  Something to do in Maricopa!!  We used to go to the movies quite a bit.  But since moving to Maricopa it was just too much of a hassel to drive into Chandler all the time.  Now we can start watching movies and eating popcorn like before.

I would love for a movie theater to be here. Now we won't have to drive up to Chandler for it. I can't wait

Soooo great ... the next two years will be huge for us and our city ...... And totally off the thread for just a minute on another positive note I took a drive around a couple of subdivisions yeaterday and made some "curiosity" calls to some realtors inquiring on some of the many homes for sale in town and EVERY house I called on (6 of them) every one.... had offers and/or contracts on them. They may be selling a bit low .... they ranged from $170k to $210k ... but the point is to have them sell. Reduce the inventory, increase demand and have our home values increase .... bring in the businesses such as the mad-cash-making movie theatre and voila! A City, Chandler, Casa Grande, Gilbert ... Maricopa! Stay tuned ....

I really feel the bottom of maricopa has been found. As 85239.com reports the MLS sales numbers have been picking up every months since january. I have noticed a lot of rental trucks being unloaded. One of my co-workers who is interested in a house in maricopa has been finding many of the homes he is considering have bids on them.

In january 59 homes sold, 74 in february, 100 in march, 133 in april and may seen 153 sales. the average price has fluctuated month to month, but is still between the $160's and $170's.

I think once we have some more shopping in place our property values will take a little jump. No way will maricopa see growth like a few years ago, but steady resonable appreciation and growth is on the horizon.

All of this is good news, although I am not going to get too excited until I see a little more progress. I am excited about the idea of home values starting to increase. When we bought we had every intention on staying here for awhile. Now we are about 110 thousand upside down in our home. Not a big deal, but it will be nice to have some equity in our home again. To feel like we have an investment instead of a money pit.:0
