What surprises me is that McDonald's wasn't the FIRST fast food to open!  However, whether it is first or last you won't find me eating there.  I think they are the "juckiest" of all fast foods.  I guess maybe you can to grow up on them as a  kid to think their burgers are good.

McDonald's waits until a city has a certain population before moving in I believe.....

I doubt it will be anything special. I think most companies reserve their specialty stores for interstate exits and tourist traps. Maricopa is neither. Got a link to one of the articles?

There is the article, the article says close to 5k sq. ft. the article was also written before the plans were approved so perhaps it was toned down a bit after the article was written.

I'm pretty sure it's a play place. My sources tell me this with much confidence. It also looks like it will be one of the "modern" looking McDonalds as well. Sort of like a Starbucks that sells happy meals.

For the longest time, I believe a population of 10,000 was required for McDonalds which means it is long overdue in Maricopa.  I believe my family stopped at a McDonalds in a po-dunk town north of Payson but south of Petrified Forest after a summer vacation at the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and Petrified Forest and if one was there, we're way behind.  I'll look that town up for giggles but it definitely was not on an interstate or busy highway.

ahhh...now I remember, we came down AZ-77 through Snowflake and the McDonalds was in Snowflake...MUCH smaller than Maricopa, and that was two years ago...go figure

I for one am glad to see McDonalds comming to Copa. We may not get a MOuntainside Fitness or a Peter Piper Pizza place, but a McDonalds is what we need.....

Looks like the exterior is nearly complete, and should be open soon. Has anyone heard of an opening date?
