It seems there have been 3-4 serious and fatal accidents since they started using photo radar. Statistics don't lie. Photo radar causes accidents.

I'm a little shocked at the number of people (adults) who feel the need to argue about everything they see on this forum. cbjlovenest politely asked to us to leave the debate to another thread so why is that so hard? If you disagree with this start a new thread and complain all you want. We don't need to hear about EVERYTHING that you disagree with. You will NEVER change ANYONE'S opinion on here if you haven't noticed.</div>

People wouldn't have to slam on their brakes(to avoid getting a ticket) and cause harm to others if they weren't speeding.
The reasoning behind letting people know where they are, is no reasoning at all.

They wouldn't have to but they do. I kid you not, I have been behind more people that slam on their brakes that were already going to speed limit than people that just kept going the speed limit.

I actually think I had my picture taken on Monday as the van was parked just after the casa blanca rd bridge coming into town. I was in a line of cars all doing just under 45mph and the flash was going off for everyone? Whats the deal with that? Doesnt the last construction sign say 45MPH?

Im the one speeding on the 347, move over or get run over!

Lol, but I agree. I speed most places I go, and the only accidents I have been in are the ones in which I was rear ended, usually by someone way too close to me, going a few miles an hour. The faster I am going, the more space I try to keep between myself and other cars in front of and behind me. It's not rocket science. If you remember that rule of thumb, then it is pretty hard to get in car accidents. It is not usually speeders that cause accidents; it's the people who are not paying attention to the road, and/or the people who slam on their brakes for no reason.

Actually it's a combination of "both" speeding and not paying attention on the road that WILL or could lead to a car accident. The question I'm asking is why do people feel the need to go another 10-15 over the limit "thinking" they are getting so much far ahead in terms of time or beating the clock/getting to their destination a lot faster. It actually doesn't make a difference as much, as I was one of those who had a lead foot and probably went 86 in the 65. It wasn't until I got pulled over and had my skulled drilled in by GRIC that I really "woke up" and decided to stop speeding.

Guess what.....not really a HUGE difference getting to work or the time getting home, in fact, there were times where I saw myself the last 10-15 minutes already "ready" for work and not doing anything but catching up on sportscenter or reading something online. I took the 10 minutes time for drive time going the speed limit, if not 5 over....and still getting to my destination in the same fashion if not faster.

I stay on the right, and let those in the left pass by at reckless speeds, but I've always hated those highway vigilantes who felt the need to block the road from those who want to speed. Look, those who are going to speed, let them speed....it's their wish to get a ticket or what not, and those who are driving "under" the speed limit need to drive a bit faster as to not hold up traffic. It's annoying the people how people ride their brakes out of nowhere land all of a sudden because they were going too fast and see a police car, turn up ahead, coming to riggs light etc. etc.
uggghhhh....hopefully people will wake up, pay attention to the road and drive at least the speed limit, and not 20 over, riduculous. There is a reason why the vehicles in the autobahns of Germany do not have cup holders and all sorts of junk that come along standard in most vehicles sold in America.....it's all about paying attention to the road and not doing a suburban multi-tasking job on the road. Incredible.

here is the statute....
28-654. Photo enforcement zones; signage; standards; citation dismissal

A. Except as provided in subsection F of this section, every local authority or agency of this state using a photo enforcement system shall adopt standards and specifications that indicate to a person operating a motor vehicle that a photo enforcement system is present and operational.

B. The standards and specifications adopted pursuant to subsection A of this section shall include both of the following:

1. At least two signs shall be placed in a location before a photo enforcement system. One sign shall be in a location that is approximately three hundred feet before the photo enforcement system. Placement of additional signs shall be more than three hundred feet before a photo enforcement system to provide reasonable notice to a person that a photo enforcement system is present and operational.

2. Signs indicating a photo enforcement system shall be removed or covered when the photo enforcement system is no longer present or not operating.

C. Signs erected by a local authority or agency of this state as prescribed in this section shall contain a yellow warning notice and correlate with and as far as possible conform to the system set forth in the most recent edition of the manual on uniform traffic control devices for streets and highways adopted by the director pursuant to section 28-641.

D. If the standards and specifications prescribed pursuant to this section are not in effect during the operation of a photo enforcement system, the court may dismiss any citation issued to a person who is identified by the use of the photo enforcement system.

E. During the time a vehicle containing photo enforcement equipment is being used to identify violators of this article and article 6 of this chapter, the rear of the vehicle shall be clearly marked to indicate that the vehicle is functioning as a photo enforcement vehicle. This subsection does not apply to a vehicle that does not contain a photo enforcement system and that is used by a law enforcement officer.

F. Subsection B of this section does not apply to a mobile photo enforcement vehicle during the time a mobile photo enforcement vehicle is deployed on streets with a posted speed limit of forty miles per hour or less.

Bottom line is if you don't speed, you have no need to know about or care where the photo radar is. I don't.

Desertgal is correct. Don't speed and you have nothing to worry about. Only people who are interested in breaking the law want to know where the photo radar is. Didn't your mother tell you to follow the rules Jason?

Oh, MPD could set up a trap, but you're right - it would have to be in town. It's gonna be a given that DPS will have the photo truck on 347 for awhile. If someone publishes the location, so what? People will slow down in that location at least, which is my point. For the people who don't slow down, they will get cited. </div>

Yes, people will slow down, because they saw the location here (the forum), and because they saw the truck (easily viewable miles away as its a flat flat road out there), and because they saw the dummies slamming on their breaks in front of them, not knowing that they were already doing below the speed limit.

Having the location posted here will do nothing other than make drivers more prepared to join us on the roadways. So please last time, stop the freaking whining, just let your fellow drivers know what to expect on the drive to and from our town in this thread, and debate it somewhere else.

You are someone to talk about following the rules, this thread asked specifically to leave out anything except locations. Did your mom drop you on your head when you were young or maybe you are in love with Desertgal....oh you are correct, please love me, you are so smart and correct....lolololol.

Oh, well that's all well and good until you realize that the speed limits appear to be different depending on which direction you're going, and whether you're going over a bridge or not. I don't know whether to go 55 or 65 now, and when I do go 65 (in the right lane of course) people are still passing me despite the 55 mph signs. So I guess I will just go 70-75 now. I don't really care where the radar is since I will not pay any ticket from it anyway, lol. God photo radar is so worthless.

There shouldn't be a "bottomline" for this thread. Seems people want something to complain about...

You'd have a different perspective if you were given a ticket for something you weren't doing, like I have been. Follow the law and you have nothing to worry about is an idiotic and tired argument.

Now, back to the photo radar locations.
