 Alert | | Saw it tonight- I did not see any warning signs other than the traffic jam it created. Might as well been an accident. Agree 100% with the ambiguity of the speed limits. 65 North and 55 South? Come on~! Someone needs to fight DPS and ADOT on this ASAP. The tickets they are writing are not valid. Personally I think the whole Photo Radar thing is a cash cow and nothing else. | | | |

Actually there was one. It was on the southbound shoulder, about 1/2-1 mile north of the van. There was a motorcycle and a truck with a dent in it and a police car pulled off to the side. It looked like they were looking for someone on the side of the road too. | |

Alert | | whether its the law or not...i dont think they should have to post their presence with a sign...if a police officer sitting along side the road getting speeders with the use of a radar gun doesnt need to have his presence posted then neither do the photo radar trucks in my opinion...if you dont like them....dont speed...get over it and drive | |

Some of you new comers to Maricopa living here 5 yrs or less wants us oldtimers to change with the times and adapt to the changes. Well take your own advice and change to the new speed limit. The difference is that the police officer is going to go after people he wants to ticket. You will know immediately if you did something wrong. With the photo radar, they're recording your image and sending it to you weeks later, so some warning might help jog your memory later on. Otherwise you could conceivably go through and never know, until at some random point later, you have a ticket. With the signs, you have the ability to remember the situation, should you need to defend yourself later.

So you're saying it is safe having traffic that travels at two different speed limits? And that it's perfectly logical for one direction to be 65 and the other to be 55? C'mon, if you think about it, does that really make sense? I already proved once that they are careless in setting speed limits. Earlier during construction they had the whole length set for 45, even where there was no construction. An email later to the construction company and ADOT reset it to what it should be: 65. | |

If that distracts you that much please let me know what times you are driving on 347 so I can make sure I leave earlier than you. You probably can't tell the differecne anyway on the speed of the traffic going the opposite way. To answer your question about it being logical no it doesn't but I don't control what and were signs are placed. Something else that doesn't make since is the sign that states reduce speed ahead prior to entering Maricopa. It drops to 55 then 45 so yes you would think it was higher than 55 prior to that but the legal speed limit is still what the last speed limit sign you passed is posted at. Saying that it is 65 between Casa Blanca and Maricopa is like saying wow those are my winning lottery numbers but I forgot to buy my ticket then going to try to collect my millions at the lottery office. You would be laughed right out of the building. | | | |

You completely misunderstood my question. Reread my posts in this thread about the southbound speed limits. You'll see that there are currently two different speed limits based on when you turn onto 347. I'm asking: Do you think that is safe? | |

Alert | The camera is there because people speed too much on the 347. I'd be willing to bet if more do the limit the camera would disappear. Pretty easy solution.
I dont blame ADOT. I blame the speeders for the camera being there. | |

Not really. An experienced driver doing 91 in a vehcle designed and built for such speeds, is a lot safer than some dimwit who's doing the limit but not paying attention because they're texting/doing their hair/eating/picking their nose.
I'd sooner have someone doing 91 on the 347 than having to slam on their brakes to avoid getting a ticket from the photo radar without signage. | | | |
