wow kids have it easy these days! when i was a kid in michigan i always stood out at the end of the road waiting for the bus usually by myself and no place warm to hang out in. and it dosent even get that cold out here! lol i mean i understand parents trying to be nice to there kids and all but come on. I see parents at the end of alltera pkwy and bowlin all the time blocking up the street when theres a parking lot at the school right there god forbid there kid has to walk 20ft hell my driveway was 1/4 of a mile lol. oo well im just bitchy today i guess! <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'></div>
my elementary school was a mile away and i walked. even in the snow and sub zero temps. sometime between when i grew up and now children have apparently become much more fragile.

Alert | In my defense...I don't see anything wrong with my child/children walking to the bus stop and/or standing at the bus stop by themselves. However, I lived in the Villages and my daughter gained some good friendships with the other children on the bus. Since we moved out of my parents house (God bless us) we are in a new neighborhood with new kids.
When we moved, I looked into having my daughter ride the bus from our new neighborhood, Homestead. After researching the bus routes and some much heated debate with my husband, I decided not to allow my child to ride the bus from Homestead. She is only in middle school and the bus from here shares with the high school kids. I am not ready for her to be exposed to that age yet. She isn't either. So, the reason I drive my child to the bus stop and wait with her is because I drive her to a completely different neighborhood. | |

because THEY are the ones with the problem... The parents are doing NOTHING illegal.. I drive down Butterfiled and get the school traffic as well.. I SLOW DOWN when I pass bus stops.. it's common sense.. I probably learned that from growing up in a neighborhood where everyone knew everyone.. (you know, a "village")
Using your logic, maybe people should unsafely drive around school bus's when they are picking up children.. I mean, why should YOU have to stop for a bus picking up someone ELSE'S offsping? God forbid you actually have to co-exist with people who happen to make the choice to have kids.. Your parents did.. but apparently they didn't do a good enough job teaching little Vinny about getting along with others, tolerance and sharing... I blame your parents...maybe they should have lived in a "village-esque" neighborhood instead of sheltering you.. how sad..

Alert | | I live in the Desert Passage Community. We have parents that drive their kids to the bus stop, including me. I park on a side street away from the main road. However, we have a few idiots who drive around the corners like they are Nascar drivers and almost hit the kids on the sidewalks. We also have idiots in our neighborhood who complain to the school district because they work 2nd or 3rd shift and by the time they get home they can't sleep because of the kids at the bus stop make too much noise. Well excuse me that you aren't getting your beauty sleep. I work 2nd shift, don't get home until 2 AM. I only get 4 hours or sleep, if that, before I have to get up and get my child ready to head to the bus stop. So YES I drive my child to the bus stop. There is no law barring me from doing that. So quit your b**ching and complaining and deal with it. I can't believe you actually started a forum on this subject in the first place. | |

So that must mean that you are one of those Nascar wannabes that drives fast around the corners even if the kids are there. Oh yeah and my kid is not the one making the noise since I DRIVE him to the bus stop so put the blame there just because i was venting. My child knows how to respect people and what do you know, he learned that from me (the bad mom that I am)!! I have a right as much as you do to vent on here like everyone else. And from reading your posts under other catergories, it seems that you are the one who needs learn to respect other people. | |
