Here is a novel idea for everyone, if you find yourself stuck in traffic, turn off the DVD players, the Ipods, whatever else is on and talk to your kids, play I-spy with them, ask them about school and their friends, RELATE to them instead of stewing and maybe even cursing ADOT or the car in front of you. You may find the time informative, fun, and maybe even stress releiving!</div>

What if you don't have kids?

I may through a "pavings over" party!</div>

Am I invited.. I will bring the Asphault!

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Run away, that would be nice, but I'm stuck with my home. I'm sure I am not the only that can't afford to move or too stop working to get involved in the community. Most people work and work in Phoenix, which have to travel on the 347. It use to take me 25min. It sometimes takes me 2 hrs. Ya, you are right 5 months

It's not that we are complainning, I kept my mouth shut for a while, but now, it's ridiculous. You close minded people, you probably don't have to work so you don't udnerstand</div>

Sounds like complaining and a bunch of excuses. I know ALOT of people who are involved in the city and yes they work outside of Maricopa. But guess what they still make time to get involved. It's called adapting.

I for one have been stuck in the traffic many, many, many, many, many times and could have opted to go around but my choice was to sit, relax and to unwind before getting home where there is a list of items a page long that needs to be done.

We all have choices.....we all knew that 347 was one of three ways into Maricopa. How we deal with it shows the type of person we really are.

My advice is if you are stuck in the horrible traffic you should use that time to text message, send emails, and call all of your friends on your cell phone. PDA phones are a must!!!!

I get my PDA Wednesday!!! I work in Phoenix and if any of you REALLY work in Phoenix then you know the YEARS of the darn light rail construction have taken its toll on many drivers. The light rail is truly a driving nightmare and headache. There are so many one way streets to contend with and every day I have to find another route to work. At least I was warned about last weekend and took the appropriate measures.

The only thing I really hate about Maricopa is you never know REALLY where the accident is. I got on line and found out there was an accident at Maricopa Road and the 347. No one told me there was more traffic after that, so I took Riggs. Ooops. I had to turn around and go to Casa Grande.

Ask Shertex, I take the Val Vista route a lot. I told her husband about that route. There is more than one way out of town. You can go south to I-8, you can go West on Smith Enke, and you can take the Val Vista route. I KNEW there was going to be traffic on Friday and I had to make my doctor appointment on time, so we just took Val Vista to and from. No biggie, added a little time, but it was much better time than spent sitting. People just need to relax and learn their way around.

That's fine we won't penalize you on the poor spelling and grammar either.

Just wait till Harrah's figures out how much money they are losing to Wild Horse Pass because of the constant traffic problems on 347. Lost revenue might mean a new road.(not just a repaved one) Let's all hope....

It's only your opinion that the city is going back-wards. We've been here a year and a half and have seen tremendous growth and still growing. </div>

Tremendous growth the last year and a half?? Where??

Check out the City of Maricopa's website and you'll see everything that has started, is planned and what is in the works.

Vester, Wal-Mart, new strip malls that opened with many new business and the ones that are in the works and gas station on the east side of 347 just to name a few.

Check out for yourself and you'll see.

Businesses are only half of the picture. Foreclosures and empty houses are going up.

Vestar won't be here for years, if at all.....Walmart getting here in a couple of years, does not add up to the "tremendous growth", for the last year and a half you were talking up. Tremendous growth will not happen in Maricopa until we have better access to Phoenix, and a better quality of life for residents.

We were in Tucson over the weekend... the traffic there was just as bad. In fact, they have a portion of the freeway, quite a large section but I don't know how much, where it goes down to 1 lane and there are no off ramps to exit. The freeway traffic was at a standstill at 9:30am on a Saturday morning. Estimated time of closure? 3 Years.

I agree with the other people who have said, we all knew that Maricopa has one main road leading to the I10. Anyone who did any research, other than asking the salesperson in the office they bought their house in, should have known that this would be the situation.

Even if they made the road bigger, You'd all still be complaining. Widening the road will take awhile too. How many want an overpass or underpass for the railroad? That will cause a lot of problems during construction. Hmm, mall over by the casino? Interested in that? That will bring in traffic from people who don't even live here.

These are all national trends. The economic forecast doesn't look good for the short term.

Short term is relative, and we have to hope it doesn't impact businesses too much. We've already seen several business close due to economic hardship.

I agree with everything you wrote. I just need assurances that Maricopa's governing body has properly prioritized the problems and is addressing them. It seems to me the annexation and airport/airpark issues are being given priority over problems that affect a far larger segment of the population.
