good luck skgiro driving on roads you shouldn't be on to save yourself a few minutes. but if anything happens I think you will fall into the "not too bright" category. Not trying to be mean, but just pointing out that not too many people are going to help you out of a self created jam. An example would be the stupid-motorist law.

Here we go again!!! accept the fact you moved here and STOP expecting everything and everyone to change for you!!!!!!! You said it "their" land. WHINE WHINE WHINE.......

The roads are maintaned by the community, some contracted out to gov association like adot, but contracted, they are paid to do it, not reqiured. As a matter of fact GRIC has their own road crews!
Drive on their roads, you'll figure it out one day!
They leave you alone can't you give the same respect? Oh, you don't need to answer that I know what you will say....it's always the same with you people.
Just be thankful you can use the road at all. keep it up and you may see a complete closure like up on Pima Road!!!! Push the issue you WILL LOOSE!!! Then how you getting home.

FYI, I assisted you in your " FIGHT" for your Justification to change and your rights to utilize what is not yours. I emailed your opinions and threads to the local tribal council at GRIC. Maybe their officers and tribal people will be a little more apt to assist you in your attempt rectify the issues you have with their people, casinos, monies, poverty, and use of roads!!!!! I am sure that a few of you have had your license plates taken or reported for your altercations with them. Good luck in all your future endeavors with the "people". I actually commmend them and their efforts to better their area and resources!!!

Federal dollars do not, in general (with the exception of the railroad crossing, they are considering Federal dollars for that), pay for anything on 347. 347 is maintained by state taxpayer dollars.

I just wouldn't do it.. Whay take the chance.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I am guessing that it's OK to drive on Casa Blanca road. What if I decide to make a turn on to find a shortcut into Maricopa? If there is no restriction sign, then should I be safe to make that turn or should I just stay on Casa Blanca Road?

I think that with the influx of people coming into Maricopa, and the frequency of serious traffic accidents that seem to occur every 6-8 weeks, more people will be looking for alternate routes. Shouldn't our city leaders focus on working out arrangement with the Gila indians (I thought they were Maricopa?) so as not to cause any grief on both sides.

Like it or not, more and more people are coming to populate this region, and the people we elect to run this city should focus on providing roads (instead of airports).

You may or may not be safe. GRIC has the right (and has done this) to confiscate your vehicle and property simply for driving on unpaved roads.

Bummer. I was thinking about taking a ride out one day to explore possible alternate routes. I think that Nelson Road goes down near Smith Enke, but I wasn't 100% sure (Google Earth seemed to suggest a possible route).

Well, I guess I won't risk it. Too bad. Someone sometime will do this and the Gila won't like it, but that's why we need to deal with this.

Nelson Rd. is currently serving as the detour route for Casa Blanca. Nelson takes you up to St. Peters MIssion Rd.- which on the East end goes over I-10 and ends at County Club (Hwy587 then 87). Go South (rt) to get to I-10 or North and Country Club goes into South Chandler. St. Peters Mission Rd on the West End dead ends at Nelson Rd. in the Rez. but there are signs to get you back to Casa Blanca. You will clearly see signs and ones saying No Tresspassing and Authorized Vehicles only heading further South on Nelson Rd. due to Reservation Farm Fields and the UofA Agricultural Center.

My personal experience is that I have had no issues on any reservation roads with Ghila-Pima- or Navajo Reservations- including backroads and dirt trails going to check out ruins or other sites. These roads are marked as Indian reservation routes on maps and do not have any signs stating no trespassing.

Depending on where you live you may try Murphy Rd. which brings you through the Casa Blanca area and into the housing by Tortosa. You can also take that road all the way down to the Casa Grande Highway.

It is your choice though.

GRIC has restricted general access to only paved roads. Casablanca is safe to commute on, but it's not my first choice because of the four way stop to get on I 10. Also, if you do something stupid like blow through a school zone at 50 or get stopped for DUI, then you have a good chance of getting your car impounded.

Stupid should hurt!

I had some time to spare time yesterday so I checked out Murphy Rd. I started at Tortosa and headed north toward GRIC. As soon as you get the edge of GRIC there is a huge sign that says this is the border of GRIC and no unauthorized vehicles allowed. Got the same thing when I went down Hartman.
