Alert | The bigger problem is how do we get out of Maricopa more quickly between the hours of 6am and 8am? I live in the Villages and on some days it takes 20 minutes to get the two miles out of Maricopa. I'm not sure what can be done, but this is the root of the problem and the reason people cut through the parking lot.
Yes, the ticket is 'unlawful avoidance of a traffic controlling device'. I got one in Chandler last year at Kyrene and Chandler Blvd.

Alert | Leave a few minutes earlier!!!!!!
I've had to adjust my schedule and leave 10 minutes earlier to avoid being late for work. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | Really??? Leave a few minutes eariler??? Thank you for that helpful advice.
My point was... the traffic on 347/JWP is ridiculous during the morning. There has to be something that can be done, perhaps traffic light adjustments or something like that to ease the congestion.

Alert | | Exactly, thank you. Maybe if they had made two left turn lanes at the 347/238 intersection. | | "My favorite health club is the International House of Pancakes" -- Lewis Black

We already know that ADOT is not going to be doing anything any time soon. Heck they can't even seem to get the Honeycutt light turned on. And it's been in how long now?

Alert | | Where does all our state tax dollars go? Is it that hard to figure out how to make bigger roads, street lights, and such? I guess so. I can't wait until the 347 is at least done. What a mess that is....two broken windshields later........... | | "My favorite health club is the International House of Pancakes" -- Lewis Black

She is right. No need to be like that. You can whine and cry all you want about somebody else doing something about it. But it's really your own problem getting to work. I'm out at 5:15 and it's a smooth ride out of time. Many of us have been able to change our work hours to beat traffic. Good Luck & Don't cut Through The Parking Lots

Exactly.....it's all about perception and what the officer thinks you were trying to do. Today's stakeout was in front of ACE Hardware. </div>
Were you cutting through to avoid the light?

It goes back to my example. I come out of RED, go west on Smith-Enke, go to RadioShack. I go in, pick up what I need and then then proceed to exit at Cobblestone. I haven't avoided any lights, but will I get a ticket because it looks like I'm cutting through? | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | OK, suppose they don't have what I need. That's happened several times due to RadioShack's limited selection. Then what? | | Joined: Jul 2005

Come on Jason, quit changing your scenario just to prolong the joust. | | <=== Galaxies In Collision

Alert | | No, I'm not prolonging, I'm genuinely interested in how they do this so I don't get ticketed. I accepted that if I purchase something, I can just show the receipt. Now what if I don't purchase something. It's a reasonable and valid scenario. If you don't have the answer, just say so. Geez... | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | Alright, the police officer says "step into my car" and he takes you to the store which you said you just left. The police officer asks the store clerk to identify you as just having been there. When the clerk fails to identify you, the cop places you under arrest for making a false statement to a peace officer and now you are in deep dodo with two charges, one of which is pretty serious. | | <=== Galaxies In Collision

Alert | | OK. So my next plausible scenario is I've got a friend in the car and we decide to go to Sonic. We get right up to Sonic and remember all the bad threads on 85239 about Sonic, so we change our minds and exit at Cobblestone. How about that situation (which happens to a lot of people, where they can't decide what to eat)? | | Joined: Jul 2005

Cop is sitting at the road entrance in his car, I motion to him that I have to go strait, He motions to me to pull over...... what a joke. He asked me what I was doing, I explain,,,, Still get a Ticket! o well, I will fight it.

Alert | Okay, granted, cutting through to avoid a light is illegal, but I think our police need to prioritize who they issue tickets too. I think we have more dangerous drivers speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, driving on shoulders and driving drunk.
Last year hubby and I were the victims of a hit and run accident when a drunk was speeding towards the train tracks and we were stopped waiting for the train to go by. We're the lucky ones, since we weren't killed.
Come to think of it, there's only a few days left in the month. Maybe the cops need to fill their quota? | | I'm walking 60 miles over three days in the Arizona Breast Cancer 3-Day because everyone deserves a lifetime! http://08.the3day.org/goto/emma
