I agree Fritzy. These people act as if there are never any wrecks on any other roads in the Valley, only the 347. Try driving on the loop 101 or the I-10 in the West Valley and then you will know delays and wrecks. The whining about houses on the market and how Maricopa sucks is so stale. If you hate it here you have no one and nothing to blame but yourself. This is what you get for trying to get rich quick. Try buying a home next time, not just a house. The whining and self pity is pathetic. If I was reading this for the first time I would think a group of Beverly Hills 90210 residents were here under house arrest.</div>

Ha ha ha. This is so true that I am hurting from laughing so hard, especially that line about the 90210 residents.

I think the most rediculous thing is that the only way to find out what is going on is to read the posts on this site. At least put traffic cameras somewhere so we can look up online what is going on when our spouses call wondering why the road is stopped and the best route to take!

Caveman and Fritzy......congrats you have the usual cookie cutter response to everyone trying to vent a little on this site. Get some new material, it's very boring.

Congrats on your cookie cutter response to their cookie cutter post jazz. The "venting" is getting old. People act like Maricopa invented traffic, a slow real estate market, and inadequate city government. The "my life sucks" venting is what is getting old.

I have lived in Valley a long time and never saw so many deadly accidents on one road. This is nuts. We were in Maricopa before incorporation..."founding" fathers should have made sure roads were controlled BEFORE allowing population to become so crazy and increase truck traffic. I have no idea what solution is, but they better do something. I was so frustrated tonight coming home not even knowing why road was closed. They need some sign. I think I'll just get a room in town until October!!! Kidding!

Oops...BTW, thanks for this thread. I'll check 85239.com before leaving home or work to see what is happening with roads.

Bottom line, they are wasting money on this 347 project. It wasnt even that bad to begin with, they should have just patched and/or filled old holes and focused more on making another route out of Maricopa towards Phoenix or Chandler. I know, Indian land, but it's going to happen eventually, it has to. For crying out loud, the least they could have done was add a 3rd lane each way to 347.

I left work in Laveen from 51st and Baseline at 5pm. After the detours back when I was stopped on Riggs and within eyesight of the 347 light and using the Casa Blanca exit when I finally got all the way back around it was 8:40pm when I got to the Villages! Almost 4 FREAKING HOURS TO GET HOME is insane!!!!!! Especially after being told by the reservation officer that no one could use the alternate dirt roads that were within eyesight to get to Maricopa because it was indian land. They had officers waiting for anyone who tried. I'm wondering how many drivers got ticketed tonight?

Remind me again why I left So. Calif. for this? Ok, Ok, Maricopa IS growing on me now. Where is the mall and movie theatres the builder promised me still? And my windshield gets chipped whenever I try to leave!

I have to laugh.
Before construction was scheduled, this forum DEMANDED that the road be fixed.
When the timeline was moved, this forum was VERY upset.
Now that construction has begun, many state that it is inconvienient.

C'mon, the road being laid will be a good road for 10 years to come.

There are things that should be looked at beyond the repave project, such as barriers in the median. We might even go so far as adding 3 lanes each way on the road, due to the increase in traffic.
But, darnit, we demanded this road be repaved, as it is being done, and this incovienience will last a short while in the long run. I can live with the longer commute today, so long as I have a better road to drive on then last month.

I have often been applauded for my story telling so let me begin.

I knew there would be a lot of driving when I moved out to Maricopa so I bought a 1999 Chrysler from my mother in IL. Drove it all the way back out here basically so I could have a car just to put miles on. She, my mother, only buys a new car every seven years but she gets them fully loaded. Programmable seats, Leather, Sun roof, you name it. My mother did not want to sell me the car thinking it was going to start having problems. I shouldn’t have talked her into to selling it to me. I just traded it in after 6 months and 26,000 miles because I had to dump 3000K into it in repairs. You never get to old to listen to your parents.

She, my mother, also use to say I shouldn’t get worked up over things I can’t control. She is right, I love the beautiful mountains and the wild horses I catch myself looking for every time I am driving down the 347 no matter how fast or slow. It will be nice when the road is finished and I look forward to its completion. I choose to focus on the positive and enjoy the small things in life like scenery on the drive to Maricopa and the fact that I am on my way to MY HOUSE, MY BEAUTIFUL NEW HOME NOT MY DEPRECIATING ASSET. Next time and I am sure there will be a next time, look around, relax, take the time to smell the roses.

I remember the last ticket I got. I thought to myself don’t the COPS have anything to do besides traffic patrol. Why don’t they go fight crime instead of writing traffic tickets? I don’t think their the ones we should be looking to place blame on. Most of the accidents have been because people refuse to pay attention to the traffic signals. You think a Officer holding a glow stick, sign, or flag is going to help? Let keep throwing stones at the guys/gals having to deal with these situations first hand. When was the last time you saw a dead body? When was the last time you had to put them in a bag? When was the last time you had to tell their family? They are out there and doing their job. Support them don’t bash them.

There are two things in life I don’t discriminate against, that’s drugs and woman. I do them all.

Left S. CA...we left Scottsdale and wish we hadn't! Four years ago we were promised a small town...they lied, ofcourse! Too much growth...too fast without infrastructure. Can't wait to get out!

Niice.
Y'know, when we moved here I thought the long drive would be too much for me. (I drove 3000 miles in June to and from my job)
I found that I really like the long drive. I see wild horses. (I did not think that existed anymore) I have seen scrub brush, but if I look closer, I can see the rabbits, and coyotes. I see road runners. (I always yell "Beep Beep", in appreciation of my old neighbor.) I find time to show my son these things. When he grows up, most of this will be gone. It will become urban developments, and lost, much like the orange groves that were previlant around Disneyland just 30 years ago.

Maybe people like the faster pace, I do live it as well, but I do appreciate taking the time to look closer at things. Heck, have you ever looked up at the stars and saw meteors, the milky way, or bats?
I guess it is a matter of balance.
I love it here. This is where I want to raise my child.

I don't mind the long drive. I do want to see the roads improved. I do want to see better infrastructure. (I can vote for that-or against those who don't)

I don't want to see more crashes on this road. Unfortunatly, they will happen until the roads are addressed. I don't mind being late to work when there is progress being made.

Jainaz is hilarious. She's from "So-Cal" and Scottsdale...Let me guess, 2 million dollar Newport Beach house to 1 million dollar Gainey Ranch house in Scottsdale to $150,000 house in Rancho el Dorado....YOU DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER ..LMFAO. Say hi to Ryan, Seth, Summer and Marissa in your dreams for me.

You wanted a "small town" and drove 16 miles outside of the 5th largest city in America. LOL. That was pretty smart planning on your part. I hope the Gila River tribe gets crazy and build a Las Vegas style strip on the 347.
