ADOT sucks. I say we write the tribe and beg them to build their own toll freeway with very few offramps directly to the 10. I would pay a toll, and we wouldn't have to rely on ADOT. The tribe with Harrahs could contribute.</div>
Toll roads are a great way to gain the $$$ back from the build of the new road, however, they are supposed to D/C the toll once the road construction debt is paid in full and this NEVER happens! | | Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

Alert | <div class='NTForums_Quote'>Posted By maricopacabana on 08/01/2007 7:03 AM Adot already has years of road projects planned. Projects that were on the board before we started our hyper growth. It would be a little unfair to assume just because we all bought in an area with a lack of access it should now be moved up on their list of priorities. </div>
Changing priorities is unfair? ADOT should be changing their priorities on a regular basis. The whole idea of making priorities is to get things done in the order that is needed most. If the areas needing attention most shift, so should the priorities. It's called an LRP (Long Range Plan) and it should be updated about every quarter. That being said, I don't beleive that there is a current need for a third lane on 347. If the current growth rate continues though, there will be a grave need in the near future.

Alert | If only my HOA would let me build the helicopter pad on the side of my house. I submitted the plans to the architecture board 6 months ago and haven't heard back yet.
In the meantime, I am so sick of my driver complaining about the traffic. I pay him good $$...I'm the one who should be complaining since I don't have my mobile Directv dish hooked up yet and I have to sit in traffic with nothing to keep me occupied.
Anyone else have this problem??

Are you high? Not a current need for a 3rd lane, so just keep things a nightmare as they curently are? If we do that then the growth rate will dwindle due to poor access in and out of Maricopa!! Only then will there be no grave need for sure to have 3 lanes in and 3 lanes out. | | Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

Alert | | Need should not be based on how few single digit MPH you're traveling at rush hour. Right now the road is packed during peak hours and we face unnecessary bottlenecks due to poor drivers. A third lane would alleviate this need and we should not have to have a parking lot before it happens. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | Keep dreaming folks.
Look at Anthem- It is much larger than Maricopa, has major retail, as well as being on a major Interstate and it is still on a 5 year plan for the INTERSTATE to be widened to 3 lanes each way. We have the 'autobahn' compared to those people.
Once the I-10 from Phoenix to Picacho Peak is 3 lanes, I-17 from Phoenix to Black Canyon City is 3 lanes, and the 202 Loop from Pecos Rd to 51st Ave is complete than maybe we will be on a plan to have the 347 widened.
There is also the fact that US60 Eastbound returns to 2 lanes shortly after Ellsworth Rd. and there is major growth in Gold Canyon and Florence. The people in Queen Creek and Johnsons Ranch are probably crying for an expansion road or loop for that area too.
Too many people moving here too fast. ADOT cannot keep up without some serious tax increases or Federal funding and the latter is not very likely. | | "The jouney of life is as much in oneself' as the roads one travels"

Seems as if it would save more $ in the long run. | | Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

Alert | | It was explained to me once by an ADOT project manager that they usually don't have enough funds to complete everything at once. So you'll see them add a lane, then come back and add a few more, then come back and put in an HOV lane, then come back and put in rubberized asphalt because they couldn't possibly afford to do it all at once. By waiting for it to be done all at once, people scream that there not doing anything, so it ends up being a catch-22 for them. In some instances though, like 347, they have to spend $$$ now and then more $$$ later to add a lane, instead of spending $$$$$$$$$$ later because the pavement became so horribly damaged. | | Joined: Jul 2005
