Interesting, a Chevrolet with a 289 Ford yet you were still able to adapt the Muncie to it.  Must have been a lot of work.  Or you could be full of it.  Playing car guy again?

OOPS! I mean 283... that's what happens when I'm not paying attention and typing.... I would never disgrace a Chevy by putting a ford motor in it. The 283 came out of a 60's belair. I have no idea where the original motor went. I got it with the 283 in it.

I do like the styling of the new one mentioned but, I perfer to own and drive exclusively vintage cars, Pontiacs in particular.  Over the years, i have collected a considerable number of Pontiacs and GTOs.  I just like them.  My primary transportation is a '72 GTO.  I've had it for 25 years  and like it as much now as I did in '83 when I bought it.  I don't have to wait for something to come out to 'look' like something from the past.  I get to enjoy mine daily.  No car payments, easy and fun to work on if I choose, no depreciation, just appreciation ( more ways than one   ), cheap plates and it is worth 10-20 times what I paid for it.  I've upgraded the brakes, seats, stereo, tires, overdrive trans, etc over the years.   It's not perfect but, it is a cool old car and I enjoy it.  Driving these cars keeps me from desiring a late model.

I miss the older ones too, I just don't have time to work on them anymore.

Since this thread has turned into a car enthusiast thread I wanted to let everyone know here about Motorsports day coming up here in Maricopa on Sat oct 18th. This is a free car show/gathering open to all type of vehicles including- musclecars, classics, race cars, bikes, trucks, etc. The location is First Baptist Church of Maricopa right on hwy 347, 1/2 mile south of the RR. Event times are 9am-1pm. All entrants get free coffee, a free lunch with drink, goodie bag and dash plaque. Other food and drink will be available for modest price to spectators. This is my effort to bring something automotive related to our town here. I also host 2 annual drag/show events each April at Speedworld Dragstrip for 10 years now.
2 of the special features at Motorsports day will be my 200mph nitro burning top fuel front engine nostalgia dragster and a one of a kind blown, injected M/T Pontiac HEMI powered speed boat. So rare, most people have never heard of it.

Another great feature will be a car bash!  For a half a buck, you can swing a sledgehammer at a car.  Women, kids and guys all love a chance to do this.
There will also be Pinewood derby racing for kids and adults. You can bring your own car to race. Also the first 100 kids will get a free Hot Wheels car.
The event phone is 520-252-6437. The church web site is www.fbcmaricopa.com On the site, there is a nice event PDF flyer you can print out and you can also preregister online there too!
I would like to see all and meet all the 'car guys (and gals)' here in Maricopa on the 18th of Oct.
Thank you for letting me post this here, I hope you don't mind.

Steve Barcak- event director
I also have my own sites

The first challenger with the V-8 are numbered and it wont take 50 years. Best bet is maybe 20. Rumor i heard is that the cuda might be brought back depending on the challenger.

With the high price of gas who is buying these cars? We are in a poor state economically to bring these types of cars to the table. No wonder American auto companies are dying off, they just don't get it.

Hey Caveman not everyone is worried about gas prices or the economy. It's not like they are making a lot of them.
