Alert | | do the people using the bus...work 7-3pm everyday??? this bus wouldn't work for me. there should be another bus return at 6 or 7pm. i feel that as long as some people can use it great. i just wish the hours where more practicul for the rest of us. i work in chandler. 8-5pm. i would have to catch the 5am bus to central station and catch i dont' know how many more buses to get to chandler by 8am. then i would have to catch all those buses back to central station hopefully by 8pm?? and then what time would i arrive in the copa...NEVER cause the last bus left at 6:30pm. THEREFORE..the times are useless to most copians. We should of built a light rail system from Maricopa to Central Station..the taken all those buses would be minimized cause the train would take you as far as Mesa! LIGHT RAIL IN COPA...how is that for a thought. I'm not being negative to the bus idea..i guess i just wish the times and locations better fit my life. thanks for atleast bring such a service to us!!

Alert | I agree. The schedule is to restrictive for anyone with a real job, who needs more flexibility as to departure times from Phx. A light rail line to hook up to the one in Tempe or by the airport would be better.

Alert | | I'd much rather have busses that drive within Maricopa, instead of just in/out. | | <--- Say his name anyway way you want, but it's pronounced(nov 08) Mr. President.

Alert | The two bus routes to Phoenix would work for working hours of 7AM-4PM and 8AM-5PM. These are most common hours for working downtown. I am sure there are others who start late or leave late. But, this is just a start . I am sure they will work on tweaking time and frequency of bus based on feedback and ridership. Is there any news on the bus route to Tempe? Alert | Let's see, it's 24 miles from Maricopa to Tempe. Gas is $3.40 a gallon. (.88 gallons is $3) So if my vehicle gets 27 mpg it's $3. . . to get to Tempe. The CAFE standard for passenger cars is 27.5. I get about that in my Saturn. Though, I've been bicycling about %50 of the time these days. (Many thanks to all of you for not running me over!)

Alert | | Can anyone who's been taking the bus let me know if it has been arriving at its stops at its scheduled times. I want to start taking the one that arrives downtown around 7:45, but want to make sure I won't be late for work at 8. Thanks!

Alert | | I second the idea of creating some kind of stop in the Tempe/Chandler area. Not everyone works in the downtown area. I tried to look on the city website for an email to ask the person/group in charge of creating this commuter bus. Anyone know who we can contact to ask? | | "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent." -Marilyn vos Savant

Alert | | lala- My husband takes the bus and it has been on time getting to downtown, but it was late once picking him up from downtown. | | I'm free from all prejudice, I hate everyone equally!

Alert | | Thanks, erqed. That's good to know. I guess I'd rather be a little late coming home than late getting in.

Alert | Where are the busses stored at night and during the day? I see them on the road EMPTY more often than anything (leaving Maricopa ~7:00 PM, heading south ~8:00 AM, etc).

I am guessing they are stored at the charter company's facility. Why are you curious? Planning to sleep in them overnight?

Alert | Wasn't there also a route that stopped at AZ Mills Mall that left around 10am & comes back around 3pm? Does that Tempe run still exist? Or did they cancel it due to lack of interest? Anyone know?

I find it kind of hard to believe they would deadhead back to the barn because of the high fuel cost. I think they are working on a partial government grant so they can afford to waste the gas. Another great use of our tax dollars

Would you have them build a storage and maintenance facility here? That would run into $$$$$$... It's also not a waste if the driver lives in that area. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | JD - While not totally a bad idea, my concern is more that 66% of the time the buses are on the road, they are running empty. As well, those 4 extra treks per day may not be necessary. I can't say this is FOR SURE how things are going down. I am just looking for clarification on this observation I have made. I did forget the AZ Mills run, which, if still going, may explain a some of the 'off-cycle' trips I have noticed.
