I heard that it was a problem in the 70's when they filled the tanks - that is not a good time to get gas. Gas stations now have almost 5 filters now before it gets to the hose. And to say gas is gas.. is like saying water is water.

And to say gas is gas.. is like saying water is water. as much as you want to deny it... gas IS gas IS gas.. the ONLY differences are the additives (i.e. Chevron w/Techron) and/or the regularity of the filter changes.. other than that.. all the gas you get comes from pretty much the same source.... -Shane

True, but I think some people, like Mikethegoalie and myself, refer to gas as the final product you pump into your car, not the intermediate product before additives.

Why don't we do a test? You guys all pitch in and fill my truck up and I'll tell you the gas mileage I get, then pitch in again and send me to a different station.

I have an old rusted 5 gal gas can full of gas thats been sitting around for several months I'd donate to Coild1's test anyone else has some? It is from the shell station so it is what some call the higher grade stuff.

Coild1....that would hardly be a scienticfic test to prove anything....for one you wont drive exactly the same way on every tank of gas...only way to truly test it...with anything getting close to accurate...would be to fill the car up with one kind of gas and run it on a tester like at the DMV until its empty...and do the same on a second....different tank of gas...and then do your calculations...no this isnt pefect either but it would certainly be a lot closer

I guess if you knew anything about a Diesel, you would know not to call it gas or refer to it as gas mileage. It is fuel and or fuel mileage!!!
