First, I don't live in Tortosa so don't be quick to judge my comments. However, I drove out there the other day looking for more investment property. What I found was extremely alarming. There are thousands, not hundreds of new homes planned back there.

Why is this bad?

Well, there is a little road by the police station that takes you back to Tortosa and closer neighboring communities. There is presently no light there and if there was, I am not entirely sure it wouldn't create and even bigger traffic problem for those attempting to merge on to 347 from Casa Grande Highway.

Once again our city planners and government have let us down. When those homes sell, with our without a simple stop light there, it will result in a terrible gridlock. Granted, there may be routes in existence which allow people to get to Casa Grande Hwy to intersect Maricopa, but that isn't a solution either. I don't think a stoplight would be allowed there as it is too close to the train tracks. It is just a total cluster. This mindless unplanned building really needs to stop.

So city government planners, you have two problems to resolve - #1) Do something about that train crossing. #2 figure out how you are going to allow 10,000+ people to merge on to 347 from a 2 lane road.

It is like whomever is planning Maricopa knows they will be gone by the time all these things are huge problems for everyone so they just don't care.

If you ever got connected with anything actually going on in the city, you would know these things are already on the radar and solutions being evaluated.

How the hell is she going to get on the council when nobody in their right mind would vote for her?

Bingo.

Java is correct. Anyone who has actually dressed themselves, moseyed down to any city meeting, listned quietly without making ridiculous statements to hear themselves speak has already learned that these are issues that have been identified and are being processed.

Casa Grande Highway has already been identified as a key link between the two cities, and discussions have been underway for three years as to how to keep it from becoming Grand Avenue, with traffic lights impeding progress. Widening the road has already been identified as an urgent need, so the talks have included the railroad (whose right-of-way is adjacent to the road alignment) and Ak-Chin (whose land covers part of the highway near Murphy Road).

At some point the constant verbal barrage of old news, completely refutable data, and highfalutin Rodeo Drive opinion becomes sickening. I think we passed that point a few weeks ago.

Dena your mind is as narrow as honeycutt Road. Take a ride around the area before you make decisions that aren't true. There are alot of people that live in Tortosa that work in Casa Grande and even Tucson they are able to use MCCG HWY to access the freeway. Also there is MCCG that connects to 347 and Porter to Smith Enke. It seems that you are unable to follow simple road maps, why do you feel you are capable of making decisions for the residents of Maricopa.

If you took the time to follow what the city is doing you would have already known that the these topics are being covered and investigated already.

There is currently a Study going to for the train issue. They can stop it immediately if you can pass on some of your MILLIONS that you have for your investments to the city and they can use it to improve that area.

Before you start your posts maybe you should start getting involved to see actually what is going on. You might find out that there is more going on that you realized and criticize about.

Denna,

One can be "quick to judge your comments" because you are so quick yourself to make judgments about others--by continually posting accusations before taking any time to truly research the facts around them. With regard to the current post, this would include the obvious step of attending council meetings to find out what is actually being planned--instead of automatically making the assumption that the council isn't aware of the potential problem or making an effort to address it.

At the least, instead of your automatic knee-jerk reaction of blame and finger-pointing in lieu of collecting the facts, you might have asked if anyone who attends the council meetings knows what is being done to address this issue--given that you obviously don't bother making the effort to attend these meetings yourself.

If I lived in Tortosa, I would definitely take the Val Vista route to work every day.

I'm offended that you think being called a guy is an insult. Men are people too. Have some feelings.

This thread (and others) cracks me up.
I decided not to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person. LOL

As Eddie Murphy would say, "Merry New Year!"
