It was kind of nice this morning. Everyone was filing over into the left most turn lane leaving the other one open to more traffic.

Sorry, but Jason is 100% correct and pin-pointed the problem correctly. They did need to put two lanes on the bridge, HOWEVER, by not making two lanes further down so cars can sit in a queue waiting for the light was ridiculous and didn't solve the real problem. But then again they messed up the lane coming the other way so I'm not surprised about this one.

As for cars cutting in, I have seen that maneuver backfire on a few and they were forced to go straight, they must have assumed they could turn around quickly, ha ha. But if some cars would not leave a gap the size of an 18 wheeler, they wouldn't be able to get in anyway.

I have to say people have been amazingly cooperative driving through. Every time I've been through, everyone in the turn bay has moved into the left most turn lane allowing people in the next straight lane to go into the right most left turn lane. Very nice, cooperative and no one is getting shorted.

i am really not sure about the queen creek rd situation, though i can see your point..  I also think that things will not improve until they add a third lane onto the highway as Maricopa grows... if they don't... getting in and out of here is going to be a nightmare... that's MY prediction.

If they had three, they'd need a fourth.  If they had five, they'd need a sixth.

I'm surprised that with all the talk this week in the newspapers about commuter rail linking surrounding towns to Phoenix, that the city of Maricopa hasn't gone over to chat with Gila River about joining up.  If they were smart, they could both gain from it.  Gila River could put a stop right in front of their casino, and Maricopa could add another way of getting in and out (and of getting cars off of 347).

No, I meant Gila River.   They are north of us, and if Maricopa joined them to ask for an extension of the hypothetical commuter line through Tempe (which currently ends near Gila River's Lone Butte Casino, but once went all the way to Maricopa), we could both benefit.

A third lane is a must.

Maybe it's not perfect but it's much better now. The queue waiting to turn left is much shorter. I'd say Jason was wrong on his prediction.

I'm happy to admit I was wrong. It is better now. It is so much easier to go straight up the right lane and then merge into the turn lane.
