The temporary signs for "No Left Turn" are up at the old Maricopa Road onto Queen Creek!!! The left turn is restricted to Emergency Vehicles Only. I imagine the permanent ones are soon to follow.
At least one could hope!

A safer road is on the way! FINALLY!!

Nice.. That means that we just have to watch out for the SLOW RABBITS that jump out making the right turn onto the 347!

Yea, Sinbad, unfortunately, When One problem is fixed, there is another problem waiting in the wings. Thats why I take the old Maricopa road and turn right. I trust myself to stay put until ALL southbound traffic on Queen Creek in the right lane are a long way off.

I do not trust those traveling Northbound on the QC ie JWP that are turning left onto the old Maricopa road to pull out in front of me as I round that curve going 55 mph.

My husband and I differ on this issue, and we both drive it 5 days a week. He goes Queeen Creek and I take the old Maricopa route.

It's a gamble either way I guess!

right.. we need a merge lane there for the idiots who don't know how to make a proper right turn with traffic... You know.. leave space to ensure YOU are up to speed BEFORE I have to ram you in the trunk...

It amazes me how many people don't know how to judge a proper distance from traffic when making a right turn.. That's the main reason I usually keep LEFT until I pass Maricopa Rd...

To be fair, we're talking about a intersection that can be optically challenging to judge traffic speeds. Add in the large difference in traffic speed (some going 45 some going 80) and the fact that it is a highway and I don't think a merge lane is unreasonable. That doesn't make people idiots, although some people's turns are idiotic. A merge lane would improve the flow of traffic at that intersection. You wouldn't expect people to make a right from dead stop onto I-10, where traffic usually goes 55-85+ would you?

The "idiots" are the people on 347 that are doing 70-80 mph in the right hand lane coming up to that intersection knowing there will be cars making a right turn.

So True DS! I also like the idea of a merge lane, but I'm willing to bet it would be a yield sign, and having said that; There is a yield sign at the top of the Wild Horse Pass OFF-RAMPfor a right turn, and more time than not, people approaching it will come to a complete stop. I've even seen them stop when the darn light is green!!! It really hampers the traffic flow.

I take that exit going about 25 and only slow down if traffic is coming. I never stop! There is no need to. I just meld into the flow.

Gotta love the Arizona Driver!!!!!!! TIC!!! (that means tongue in cheek) LOL
