If you wish not to let them bend maybe they need to ticket for 1 or more over.
</div>

That is absurd.

<div class='NTForums_Quote'>
You know that 347 is a photo enforcment zone why do you need signage just follow the speed limits.
</div>

The signage is required by law.

Every time I have seen one of the SUV's thier signs have been out. I did not stop get out an measure how far back it was.
</div>

You must be driving on a different 347 than I have because I have seen the SUV but have honestly not seen any signs up at any time.

I was told that they give allowances for your speedometer being off a little thats one reason that they do not ticket for 5 over or less which is what I've always been taught.
</div>

I thought you wanted them to ticket for 1mph over.

<div class='NTForums_Quote'>
They need to start giving repair tickets out for having defective equipment on your vehicle then and start requiring it be calibrated yearly and if you can't show it was calibrated you get not tag.</div>

I would agree with this if they would also give repair tickets for broken headlights and taillights. It may be on the books but it does not seem to be enforced.

I've yet to see one of these warning signs. How far away do they need to be posted? I know for sure there were no warning signs the first 2 days this thing was out there. I bet in the next 5-10 years, there are going to be so many speed cameras on every highway in the valley, that nobody will be able to speed anymore. The accidents will rise because of the idiots who jam their brakes at the sight of these things.

They are who we thought they were!

Yes i would like them to ticket for 1 over but I also know that would be too picky.

As far as repair tickets besides broken headlight they need to start ticketing those lifted trucks that have thier lights higher than 30 inches is what I think the law is. There are also laws as to how far your lights can shine (I know some towns in Texas do check this regularly)and the brightness of them. The tail light thing you are only required to have one working taillight.

Let's see...85 is the maximum without being considered excessive speed, a misdemeanor. So I'd say the ceiling is 85. Wouldn't you? Personally I don't think it should be a hard ceiling of 85, but that's another subject.

Actually it's 80MPH. this is found at the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminsitration.
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/injury/enforce/speedlaws501/toc/azspeed.pdf
It would be on page 5. Subnote 7.
7.Excessive speed is define as driving either (1) >35 MPH approaching a school crossing, (2) >20 MPH above a posted speed limit (>45 MPH if there is no posted speed limit) in a either business or residential district or >80 MPH in other locations. '28-701.02(A)

Sorry, but your NHTSA document is incorrect:

28-701.02. Excessive speeds; classification

A. A person shall not:

1. Exceed thirty-five miles per hour approaching a school crossing.

2. Exceed the posted speed limit in a business or residential district by more than twenty miles per hour, or if no speed limit is posted, exceed forty-five miles per hour.

3. Exceed eighty-five miles per hour in other locations.

B. A person who violates subsection A of this section is guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor.

C. A person charged with a violation of this section may not be issued a civil complaint for a violation of section 28-701 if the civil complaint alleges a violation arising out of the same circumstances.

Jason he is comparing apples to oranges. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may consider 80+ as excessive speed but these sound more like guidelines. When you are pulled over they follow state law and not guidelines.

Well, NHTSA has a document for each state documenting what the state's speeding laws are. Ice linked to the one for AZ, but it's wrong. It cites 28-701.02 but what it says is 28-701.02 is not what it actually is.

no matter what the law may be i dont think that they should have to post their presence...it is our responsibility as motorists to do whats right and if we dont we pay the consequences....as far as signage goes as well...i could be wrong but at red light running intersections there arent signs posted..if im not mistaken upon entering a city that uses these devices it warns you that that particular city uses such devices but does not post them at EACH intersection they are deployed at..though again i might be wrong on that one...

TortosaGuy actually at every light that uses the cameras there is a sign on the light post stating that there is a red light camera.

Here is a novel concept CnC...try going the speed limit. Why put so many peoples lives in danger just because you think where you are heading is so much more important than theirs. When you cause an accident or stopped by a cop...are you really getting home that much quicker? I never had any real issues with you until you openly admit you are one of those idiots that fly by those doing the speed limit. It really isn't safe or necessary. Merry Christmas!

Our favorite photo enforcement vehicle was out again this morning, snapping pictures of southbound traffic, just south of the Casa Blanca intersection. Once again, no signs were up informing of its placement and, unless they fixed it overnight, the speed limit was still ambiguous. This was evidenced by the flash going off for practically every car. Nice...

As for "novel concepts", how can you go the speed limit when the speed limit isn't clear?

Checked on the way home and it is still ambiguous. They now have poles installed for 65 MPH signs, so it is almost certain that they mean for the speed limit to be 65, but DPS was out there this morning, milking it.

I Think i was photo'd this afternoon . The truck was parked on the the incoming side of the road I was leaving heading into Chandler , No warning signage ,but in my defense i was doing 65 Cruise Control set and i was approaching Casa Blanca intersection i was slowing via Cruise Control to 55 because of the traffic ahead and POP I saw a flash UGH!!!I hope it was the other side !

NickEl - I had the same thing happen to me right before the Holidays. I had the cruise control at 65, but got flashed in the 55 mph zone heading south by Casa Blanca. It was already dark and I didn't see any warning signs, but to be honest, I was looking for them. I haven't received any happy grams in the mail yet, but I sure do watch my speed in those 55 mps zones now. Seems like lots of people have only received warnings in the mail so far - hope I'm as lucky.

Jason, I don't know what you mean by the speed limits are not clear. I see the signs with the speed limits posted. Unless you are talking about what you think the speed limits should be.

Today's or tomorrow's (not sure which) location is taking photos of northbound traffic just north of Maricopa, right at the first bridge. I didn't see them flashing anyone so maybe they are just parking it for tomorrow morning.

No, I'm talking about southbound through the Casa Blanca intersection. It drops to 55 MPH at the intersection and then there is no sign south of the intersection. This is unclear, because any traffic that turns onto 347 after the 55 MPH sign, which is north of the Casa Blanca intersection, has a default speed limit of 65 MPH. So this raises two questions:
A) Do they really intend the speed limit to be 55 between Casa Blanca and Maricopa? If so, why isn't the northbound traffic like this.
B) What does DPS consider the limit to be? It can't be 55?

So that's the ambiguity. It's very clear to anyone that the speed limit should be 65 south of the intersection, but they are dragging their feet putting the signs up.
