First off YZRacer, (and the rest of us) I hope we all learned a good lesson about how NOT to vent on a very public website in a very small town, it's a god way to lose friends. Step back, take a deep breath, I hope you two can patch things up.
Jodi, I assume you are a new a driver? If I believe you about the lights being off and stop sign not being being out? If you are correct then you made a correct legal left turn and you have nothing to be ashamed of. If the stop sign was out or the lights were flashing or both, and you proceeded to turn (which is what she said) then you made an illegal turn and could have put childrens lived in danger.
HOWEVER, (and here is where I'm going to get yelled at) if those kids who ran across that street WITHOUT looking would have been wrong also. They are told on the first day of school by the teachers, bus driver and the parents about bus safety (and a million times after). LOOK FOR CARS BEFORE CROSSING. I hope if the bus driver saw it he had ANOTHER lecture ready for all the kids.
