Alert | I know some of you are going to say, "oh stop complaining, when do you think they should do it?", but did anyone else get stuck in that terrible state inflicted traffic the other night? They had the 347 on and off ramps closed and routed everyone down Riggs Road. I think the exitting Maricopa traffic was about 6-8 miles and the entering traffic along Riggs was bumper to bumper all the way from I10.
What could they have been doing that justified trapping everyone in Maricopa in a 1.5 hour traffic jam on a Saturday evening? These people make me want to scream with their ignorance of people's lives. I have driven that stretch of road before and after they had closed down the 347 and I can't see what they could have done during that night.
Because I like proposing solutions with problems, my opinion would be that this work, whatever it may have been, start after 10PM. Also, Sunday evening would obviously have been better. Much fewer people would have been heading out for a night on the town.
For the record, I was stuck in the going into Maricopa traffic with my daughter. I really felt for the people trying to head into Phoenix.

Speaking of ignorance of peoples lives. Maybe you need a new solution this problem. Limit all fatalaties to after 10:00 PM. What a piece of work you are.

Alert | I'm sure that the man who was driving would surely send you a person note apologizing for delaying you and your daughter but he DIED!!!!! Maybe you can contact his family and complain how rude it was to cause such a mess.
If your going to complain at least get the facts straight. Can you say enough is enough now!! Cause it's getting old. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | | The real question is..... How many people have to die before they spend a little money to make a merge lane onto 347?? Or extend the third lane from the 202 to Queen Creek that way people will not use Wild Horse Pass as often. I know that the lane extention on I-10 is in the works (from what I have heard), but they need to make it a priority.

Neither of these would have prevented this accident. If someone is going to wander into traffic out of sequence, tragedy will follow.

Alert | yes, my trip to town was delayed. however, my life was not delayed by having to plan for a funeral for a loved one. I would prefer nobody got into accidents, but i'll sit in traffic anyday rather than plan a funeral. i'm sure the deceased is sorry he caused the problem.

Alert | I think that all construction and fatal accidents should be scheduled at a time when I won't be using the road in question.

Alert | | Anyone else notice there have been three freeway closing major accidents in the past week? Seems like we need alternate ways in and out of this lovely town. No people, a 2 lane road like Riggs isn't a solution.

Alert | So Deana what exactly are you more upset about:
That there are accidents That they have to close the roads to investigate That your drive to/from your destination is delayed somehow That you didn't notice that the 347 was the only major way into Maricopa when you moved here

Sorry Gila... I strongly Disagree</div>
And disagree you may. But not with the stark terms of this accident. As stated by DPS, this accident was caused when someone unfortunately wandered into oncoming traffic out of sequence. No merge lane, traffic light, photo radar, police officer on traffic control, K-rail barricade, or alien spaceship can prevent a tragedy like this if someone is going to mistakenly enter oncoming traffic without waiting for a clearing.
It's awful and it's gut-wrenching, but it is what it is...an accident. And accidents are going to happen come hell, high water, or freeway redesign.

Or the lack of people on 347. Doesn't matter how many people are on the road if you wander into someone's path there will be an accident. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006
