Alert | | Pretty basic stuff people. Red means stop, yellow means slow down. After driving through town tonight it's obvious why there are so many accidents. I saw people stopping at yellow lights and going right through red lights. It's one the basics behind driving seriously.

Alert | | As far as stopping on yellows, it's a judgment call. If I can at all stop, I do, even if it is a quick, abrupt stop, because some yellow lights are short and once that red goes up, you aren't allowed into the intersection. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | Another accident at Maricopa Rd. I don't think it was fatal, since the closure was only for 2 hours this time. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | Jason, I'm actually reffering to the flashing lights, not the standard traffic lights. Last night they were all flashing either red or yellow in town. Watching people was just sad. I let a guy go who was to my right (E. bound Smith Enke) at a flashing red, and then when I proceeded after him (S. 347) the guy behind him just kept right on going. Continued to watch others completely stop at yellow flashing lights and just sit there. Again my overall point is its no wonder there are so many accidents when people don't even know the basics of driving.

Alert | One semester in college, I worked for a testing company to norm a reading test. I gave the same exact test to each and every student at a catholic school grades K-6 so that the company could determine how the "norm" answered the questions and at what grade/age they were correct. One of the test questions was a picture of a traffic light and the question was "What is this called?" Most students said stop light, but I will never forget the Kindergartner who said "I don't know the name, but I know what it means. Green means go; Red means stop; and Yellow means go like hell. My brother told me that."
