I didn't see a motorcycle. I am assuming your husband made it home okay?

Sorry, I could not answer yesterday, my computer was having issues with 85239.

Me, my Daughter and Daughter-in-law had been to a baby shower in gilbert. We were in the truck ready to leave when my daughter had to go back into the house to get something we had left. She was gone about 5 minutes, and I believe from what we saw, we were just 5 minutes behind the accident.

Citizens were directing traffic, a fire truck was coming up behind us, other citizens were helping the injured. We heard babies crying.

The man that caused this accident (and lost his life) was very visable. I just can't get this visual out of my head.

PEOPLE!!!! Everytime your partner leaves in a car kiss them and tell them I LOVE YOU.

Everytime your child gets on the school bus Hug and kiss them. Say I LOVE YOU.

Everytime you tuck them in bed, hug and kiss them. Say I LOVE YOU.

Never let them out of your sight without that hug, that kiss, and those words.

I'll get off my lecture stand, and say, I hope that this is a wakeup call, and we take time to smell the roses.

I hate to say not much of a wake up call for drivers today. Coming home from Chandler on 347, 70mph didn't seem fast enough for everyone else, they were flying by me i would guess 80-85!! This is terrible to probably say, but if you go by me going 80-90 mph and your involved in an accident, i have no sympathy for you and i would NOT stop. Damn people, slow down, enjoy life!

Bubba, I relate! I will not brake the speed limit max is 65, I will not go over 69. I saw the fatal on the 347, and Im having trouble getting that vision out of my head.

Some one lost a brother, son, uncle, husband, and maybe a daddy

Bubba, I am in your court: If these drivers choose to act like idiots, then I have no sympathy. I agree! SLOW DOWN! PAY ATTENTION!

I agree, slow down, and pay attention. In the meantime, where are the police? Their PRESENCE is 100% more effective than the SUVs with cameras sending you a ticket for $175.00 two or three weeks later. That does not stop accidents, but police presence WILL. When, oh when, will we start demanding a police presence for protection? That road is filled with moronic drivers who care nothing except about "ME, ME, ME, ME", and how quickly they will get home for their first beer of the evening. And, I've seen women as well as men speeding. Please, slow down and have a little (little, hell, a lot of) courtesy for the other drivers on 347. I've got over six good size dings in my windshield )not to mention paint chips in the front of my car) because of these moronic drivers spitting up rocks because they feel the 347 is their own Daytona 500 speedway, not to mention the accidents they've caused because of their "surfing" on the 347.

I think you need to re-arrange your list of problems on this one, he pulled right out in front of someone!! And, no tickets were issued for the person that hit him so obviously the cop and witnesses felt that speed was nothing to do with this accident. You can't blame people for driving to fast for this one. The facts are that if he did not pull out in front of him there DEFINATELY would not have been an accident! If you pull RIGHT out in front of someone doing 75, 65, or even 55 you are still going to get hit. there is not a car in the world that can stop from 55-0 in 50 feet or even 100 feet for that matter. This horrible accident and death should definately not be blamed on the person that hit him, and I really hope that whoever did hit the car in which the man died does not read this forum as I am sure he would not like to be blamed for hitting and killing the guy who pulled out in front of him.

You hit this dead on. Why everyone wants to jump on a soapbox about speeding I don't know but SPEEDING DID NOT CAUSE THIS ACCIDENT. This accident was caused by someone JUMPING INTO TRAFFIC in a WRECKLESS manner. For something this serious a ticket would have surely been issued but it was not so please get off the soapbox and look at the facts. Nobody likes to speak ill of the dead but the facts are that the dead driver caused this accident. I can't imagine what the driver that hit him is going through right now and I feel very concerned for their mental health. If you are reading this take care of yourself and ignore some of these earlier posts.

Sweitzer, I could not agree with you more. I saw this accident minutes after it happened and I have never blamed the driver of the vehicle that hit the car of the fatal. The guy that died was at fault. There is no doubt about that.

Paint and windshield chips are not happening because of speed. If you read this forum you might think starving in third world countries is caused by speed on 347...

People need to slow down! It's an average of 75-80 mph on 347 most times. The speed limit is 65 and 55 in a few spots! People will put their lives in jeopardy to save a few seconds and pull out in front of someone! Especially making the left turn onto Maricopa rd from 347. A light is not going to make people slow down, they are just going to run the yellow and red!!!!!

We all know this intersection is a disaster. I hope that someone sues the morons who decided to overload a road that clearly is not designed to handle this amount of traffic. We all deserve an updated, 21st century roadway to get to, and from the city. How many more people have to die before we realize, it's not entirely on the drivers? This road is outdated. While our fricken idiot city councilmen discuss busses and rapid transit, our fellow citizens will continue to die.

No....you don't get it. Why does this person have the option to pull out onto a speeding highway??? How many people have this option on the 10,17 ar the 51??? Let me help you with that.....none!

This should NOT be an option. Keep it as one, and the accidents will continue to occur.

"Paint and windshield chips are not happening because of speed", where do you think they come from? Surely not from someone who is not passing you! What does someone "starving in third world counties" have to do with causing dings and paint chips have to do with any of this? I got those dings and paint chips from some moron speeding by me spitting up rocks, plain and simple. When your driving your vehicle, you're supposed to have it under your control at all times, and anticipate the possibility of someone cutting in front of you, which if your speeding, you relinquish your control of your vehicle to the possibility of someone cutting in front of you. Who hit whom? If you hit them, you're responsibe. If someone hits you from behind, they're responsible, if you hit someone in front of you, then you're responsible.

The guy that died was at fault??? I'm sure that the builders, and town officials, who issued all these permits to folks whe have to travel on an outdated 347 are just as copable. Trust me the lawsuits are coming.

Oh Pleeeease! How about personal responsibility? I would never take Maricopa road for I know it's a death trap, but if I had too, I'd make darn sure that waited until it was safe to go and screw the impatient people behind me! Maybe they are responsible and should be sued!

I have had rocks kicked up by 18 wheelers a number of times. They were going under the speed limit and rocks still kicked up, imagine that. What makes you think that speeding has anything to do with paint and windshield chips?

I'm not sue happy either, but this is a no brainer. It's real EASY to prove that your risk is elevated by travelling on this road. Java....do you really think this is all on the drivers?? Name ONE highway anywhere, where cars pull out in front of you?? Congrats, you figured it out.

Your absolutely right -- speeding did not cause this accident! Someone got impatient, had poor judgment, or whatever and jumped into traffic causing a horrible accident.

However, speeding most certainly exacerbated the situation. Had the speeding driver maintained the a reasonable speed he could have lessened the impact simply by the fact that the impact would have been less. Speeding doesn't necessarily cause accidents, but it makes them more likely and severely ups the damage.
